Create a Champagne Tower Centerpiece

You are here: Home / Budget-Friendly / Create a Champagne Tower Centerpiece

Hello Sweet Friends,

For today’s DIY, I will be showing you how to create a champagne tower centerpiece out of plastic champagne coupes. The origin for this idea was to create a FUN centerpiece for New Year’s Eve; but I think this also would be PERFECT for other celebrations like weddings, anniversary parties, Great Gatsby-themed events, etc.

Do you like the idea of a champagne tower but not the idea of the possible mess? Do you have champagne taste but a beer budget? Then this easy DIY project is just for you. Just add battery-powered tea light candles instead of bubbly, and you’ve got yourself a beautiful centerpiece for your special event!

Let me show you step-by-step how to create this BEAUTIFUL champagne tower centerpiece.

Supplies needed

  • 10 plastic champagne cups or coupes (found at Dollar Tree in packs of 6)
  • 10 battery-operated tea lights (from Amazon)
  • glue gun
  • flat working surface

As I mentioned above, I purchased the champagne glasses or coupes at Dollar Tree. If you can’t find them at your local Dollar Tree or you would just rather get them delivered to your home, here are some similar glasses from Amazon for a fair price https://amzn.to/42e5PPb. And here is a link for the battery-operated tea lights also https://amzn.to/3OknqPE.

The first step for this project was to unwrap and assemble ten of the champagne cups. Be gentle; I accidentally cracked one of the glasses by using too much force.

Then I arranged six of them for the bottom row. See photo below.

The glasses were placed on a very flat smooth surface. Then, using my glue gun, I attached the glasses together one by one. I tried not to use too much glue, but I wanted it to be secure. Even though the glue showed a little, it would be camouflaged by the glass on top of it.

Once I had the bottom row of glassed glued together, I moved onto the second row; which was three glasses glue together. Again I made sure I had them on a very flat surface.
Then I glued the three glasses to the bottom row, making sure that I applied the glue where the glasses met.

One final champagne glass was then glued on top. It’s already looking very classy and high end IMHO. I’m bubbling over with excitement! My cup runneth over. Ok, pardon the puns; let’s get back to the DIY.

This final step will have to wait until you are ready to display your centerpiece; but for this tutorial I went ahead with it.

I turned on ten of the battery tea lights and simply put one into each champagne glass. And LOOK how beautiful this centerpiece turned out! Wowza!

Display the champagne tower centerpiece by itself, on a tray, or a table runner. It’s just so PRETTY!

I hope I’ve inspired you to try this idea for your next special event! It’s just so EASY and budget-friendly, you can’t go wrong.

Until next time….. Happy Crafting!

Meet Pamela, the Creator

Pamela, Creator

Born and raised in rural, Missouri, I'm a wife of 30 years and mother to one adult son.

My interest in all things artsy-craftsy began as a young girl. If there was a craft kit for it, I've probably tried it: paint-by-number, latch-hooking rugs, candle-making, shrinky-dinks, string-art, etc. I loved them all! For many years I was able to express my creativity on-the-job as a florist, and love using silk florals in my home decorating projects.

I'm excited to share my crafting and home decorating ideas with you. I like finding that perfect thrift store item and crafting something new out of it, or giving that old piece of furniture a new life with a fresh coat of paint. I hope my projects will inspire you to get craftsy and create things to help decorate a home you love.

Happy Crafting!
