Hello Sweet Friends,
This country pumpkin has a fabulous DIY for you today. I will show you how to decorate some Dollar Tree stacked pumpkins. You’ve probably seen the stacked pumpkins in the Dollar Tree Plus section of the store, and like me, thought they were already pretty cute as-is. But my artsy heart and craftsy soul could not leave it like that!
So I decided to “jazz” them up a bit with some FALL embellishments. I hope you like the finished LOOK as much as I do!
Follow along for the simple directions to transform the stacked pumpkins into beautiful fall decor for your home.
Supply list
- Dollar Tree stacked pumpkins
- Waverly antique wax and paint brush
- Dollar Tree berry garland
- faux sunflowers
- faux fall leaves
- other fall embellishments
- raffia
- rustic brown wire
- glue gun
- scissors and wire cutters
To start with, I thought the pumpkins needed a little touch up with some antique wax. So I painted in the crevices of the pumpkin and wiped off with a paper towel before it dried. This helped the pumpkins look a little more realistic.
Once the wax had dried, I went ahead and stacked the pumpkins together. I thought I would have to glue them together, but instead they “snapped” together. It seemed very secure, so I just left it at that.
The first embellishment that I added to the stacked pumpkins was a Dollar Tree berry garland. I cut lengths of the garland and wrapped it around the spaces between each pumpkin. A little glue was added to help secure, although it seemed to stay in place quite well on its own.
Next up, was to add a burlap leaf and a faux sunflower in between each pumpkin. I attached them with my hot glue gun.
Then a few more fall embellishments were added, along with some raffia. Look how CUTE it is already looking.
The final embellishments were added to the top pumpkin; a raffia bow and some fall leaves and berries. I also added some little wire curlicues to the pumpkin stem. (The curlicues were made with rustic brown wire that I got from Amazon. I use it for so many projects. My affiliate link is here if you are interested in purchasing. I receive a small commission if you decide to purchase.)
And the pumpkin stack is finished! How stinkin’ CUTE is this?
I really love how this turned out! If you like it too, you’d better run to Dollar Tree before they are all gone. This was so easy to create. There are so many different versions of this that you could try. You could even paint the pumpkins a different color.
I hope you enjoyed this DIY and that it will inspire you to create something similar for your home decor. Until next time…..
Happy Crafting!
