Hello Sweet Friends,
Did you ever think a beautiful Christmas ornament could be made from such an ordinary household item as a clothespin? Well, that’s just what I’m going to show you today. This is a very easy and budget-friendly DIY, so I know once you get started, you won’t be able to stop creating these ornaments. Follow along and I’ll show you how.
Supplies needed for clothespin snowflake ornament
- eight clothespins
- thread or twine
- embellishments (optional)
- glue gun

I purchased my clothespins from the local Dollar Tree in packs of 36. The little snowflakes and acrylic jewels that I used for an embellishments were from Walmart.
Begin this DIY by counting out eight clothespins.

Each clothespin must be separated into two separate pieces. This can be easily accomplished by twisting the clothespins apart. See picture below.

Continue separating all eight clothespins, discarding the metal pieces.

Using a small amount of hot glue (or E6000) glue two of the clothespin pieces together with the flat, smooth sides together.

Continue gluing the clothespins together, two pieces at a time. Glue a string or twine loop to one of the finished pieces. Again, try to use the smallest amount of glue possible.

Glue four of the clothespin pieces into a “cross”, with the twine or string loop at the top.

Then glue each of the remaining four clothespin pieces in between the each arm of the “cross”. See picture below.

To finish, glue any embellishments onto the clothespin snowflake. I used a mini snowflake and clear acrylic jewel on mine.

This little DIY was so quick and easy. And there are so many different embellishments that could be used. The snowflake could also be painted white for a different look.
I hope I’ve given you some inspiration to make some snowflake ornaments for your tree this year. A snowflake ornament could also be used on a gift or attached to a gift bag. Use a suction cup, and hang one from a window or mirror.
Let me know what you think in the comments!
Wishing you a beautiful holiday season!
Happy Crafting!
