Hello Sweet Friends,
I’m here to bring you an Easter DIY craft today. Instead of buying new decorations for holidays, I like to put a new twist on ones that I already have. So I took some of my plastic Easter eggs and gave them new life with some book pages and Mod Podge. I just love the result and I hope you do too.
So follow along and see how easy it is to transform those old plastic eggs into charming Easter decor.
Supplies needed for decoupaged eggs
- plastic easter eggs
- book pages
- white paint and brush
- brown paint, optional
- Mod Podge and small brush
- scissors and glue gun
- embellishments for eggs
Begin this craft by painting the plastic eggs with white paint. Two coats may be necessary for good coverage.
Instead of using actual book pages to cover my eggs, I made copies of pages from the book Peter Rabbit. To make the pages appear aged, I thinned down some brown paint and brushed onto the page copies.
After the paint is dry, cut the pages into smaller sections, then into strips.
Begin applying the strips of paper onto each egg with a generous layer of Mod Podge. Mod Podge is a little bit messy to use and there will be some dry time in between each section. When the whole egg is covered, it is a good idea to put a top coat of Mod Podge to finish it off.
When eggs are finished drying, add your choice of embellishment. I used some twine and small spring flowers.
And I just LOVE the finished eggs. And I love the thought the that the Tale of Peter Rabbit is somewhat disguised on the eggs. But if you look really close, you can make out little tidbits of the story.
I hope I’ve given you some inspiration to give this DIY a try. It was a little more time-consuming than I had thought, but so worth it in the end.
