Hello Sweet Friends,
It’s been a minute since my last post, but I’m finally back at crafting again. Today’s craft idea is a Dollar Tree Jenga block candleholder idea, that I hope you will really like.
The finished piece was a little different that I had first had in mind, but I think that is true for many creative endeavors. When working with inexpensive supplies like with this project, it’s easy to just run with the idea and see where it goes. So that’s just what happened with this craft.
Follow along for a supply list and DIY instructions for this cute little project.
Supply List
- Dollar Tree tumbling blocks (similar to Jenga blocks)
- DT glass cylinder vase
- white paint
- E6000 glue
- glue gun
- optional, DT small wooden stars
- optional, DT solar light or battery candle

When I began this project, I wanted to create a holder for a solar light: I thought I could use it out on my patio table. But read ahead to see the finished piece.
For the first step, I painted all of the DT blocks with Waverly chalk paint in the color plaster. I chose a white paint because I thought that it gave the candleholder a cottage vibe.

It took two to three coats with dry time in between. The darker blocks are the ones that required a little more paint for good coverage. A fair amount of time was spent painting, but it was definitely worth it in the end.

Once the paint was dry, I moved onto the next step, which was gluing the blocks together. I used E6000 glue for a more permanent hold.

Using a DT vase for support, I lined five of the DT blocks evenly spaced around the base. This would be the bottom of the candle holder. My original thought was to cover the entire vase and keep it as part of the finished piece, but that didn’t exactly work out.

After putting a dab of the E6000 glue at the end of each block, I added another row of five blocks. Each block in the new row of blocks overlapped two in the bottom row. See picture below.

And I just kept repeating the same step, adding row upon row of the blocks until I ran out. In total I had fourteen rows of block for my candle holder. There were not enough to cover the entire vase, so I removed the vase leaving the stacked blocks alone. And I let the glue dry before moving on to the next step.

Putting on the final touches: Dollar Tree Jenga block candleholder
So at this point I thought the top of the candle holder look unfinished. So I decided to add some small wood stars that I also got from Dollar Tree.

After painting the stars with the same paint I used before, they were glued around the top edge of the candle holder. Now take a LOOK at the finished piece below.

Didn’t this turn out SUPER cute?? And it works perfectly with my patriotic decor, too!

And besides using it as a candle holder, I have also decided that it makes a good vase/container for faux plants or flowers. Or use it as a pencil holder. So many options.
But whether I use a battery-operated candle or a solar light, I think I like it best as a candleholder. Don’t you just love how the light peeks through the sides?

I hope this Dollar Tree Jenga block candleholder idea inspires you to get creative and make something beautiful for your home.
Until next time. Happy crafting!
Pamela
