Hello Sweet Friends,
Isn’t autumn the most beautiful time of the year? I’ve been busy trying to decorate my home for the season, and I’ve come up with a fun little craft project for you today. It’s easy, budget-friendly, and uses only a few simple supplies. So let’s jump right in.
Items needed for DIY Fall Acorn Garland
- package of 8-piece acorn ornaments from Dollar Tree
- twine
- brown floral wire
- white and brown paint
- scissors, paint brush
I began this project by painting each of the acorn ornaments with white paint. After drying, I gave them a second coat for good coverage. I used chalk paint so it dried fairly quickly in between coats.
Then, using watery brown paint, and lightly painted the tops of the acorns. I actually used Waverly antique wax and watered it down, but any brown acrylic paint will do.
With the same watered down concoction, I added a “shadow” line on one side of each acorn. I also added shadowing to each side of the acorn tops.
After drying, I was ready to string my acorns to a length of twine. I attached each acorn with a piece of brown floral wire, then curled each end of the wire. This floral wire is awesome and can be used for all sorts of craft projects. Here is my affiliate link if you want to grab some. https://amzn.to/3TNC2bb
I only used seven acorns for my garland, and spaced them about six inches apart. I knew exactly where I planned to use it!
I’m just loving how this garland looks on my chalkboard! Where would you hang this garland in your home?
I hope I’ve inspired you to make your own version of this garland. Change up the colors, add beads, add tassels; get CREATIVE with it!
