Hello Sweet Friends,
It’s time for another Dollar Tree DIY craft project! You’ve probably seen moss balls used as decor in many different ways; in dough bowls, vignettes, in a topiary, etc. They make a beautiful addition to nearly any seasonal decor. And they are also VERY EASY to create! So follow along and I’ll show you how.
Supplies needed
- faux moss stones from Dollar Tree
- small styrofoam balls
- twine
- scissors
- glue gun
The instructions for this project are pretty straightforward. Just hot glue the faux moss stones one by one onto the styrofoam ball. It takes the hot glue a little longer than normal to dry on the styrofoam. So hold the moss stones in place until the glue is mostly dry. I did two or three moss stones at a time, then just held them in place until the glue dried. Place the stones as closely together as possible so the white styrofoam does not show through. Pictured below is about halfway through.
Continue glueing the moss stones until the styrofoam ball is completely covered. The number of faux moss stones you need to use depends on the size of the styrofoam ball. I used nearly two packages of the stones for the one I created. After finishing with the faux moss stones, wrap a length of twine around the moss ball in a random pattern.
Glue the loose ends of the twine in between the moss stones in an inconspicuous spot.
I’m so pleased with how these moss balls turned out! And they are so easy to create! Just think of all the ways they can be used in home decor!
I’ve tucked them into my St. Pat’s decor for now, but will soon transition to full-on SPRING and they will work perfectly with spring season too!
I hope I’ve given you some inspiration to create some to add to your home decor!
