Hello Ghoulish Friends,
I have a HAUNTINGLY craftsy DIY for you today. Come sit for a SPELL and I’ll show you how to make a WICKEDLY cute pumpkin with a raven perched on it; inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Raven”. I hope you enjoy!
Items needed for this DIY
- pumpkin from Dollar Tree
- book pages
- small raven
- Spanish moss
- cork covered in twine
- brown wire, or other embellishments
- white paint and paintbrush
- Mod Podge
- scissors
- glue gun
I began this project by painting the pumpkin with white paint. It took two coats for good coverage. Any white paint will work but I used chalk paint.
Then I printed pages from the poem, “The Raven” and stained them with watered down brown paint to “age” them.
After the pages were dry, I cut the pages into strips of two lines each, so it would be easier to attach to the pumpkin.
One by one, I began gluing the strips onto the pumpkin. I saved back the title and the strip with the first few lines so it would have a prominent place on the pumpkin.
I glued six or eight strips on, then I would let that dry before I went on. It was a little time-consuming but definitely worth it in the end.
And then I finally attached the title and the first few lines in a very visible spot.
Once the pumpkin was dry, I was ready to attach the stem. I wrapped a cork with twine, but any type of stem could be used.
I glued the stem in a next of Spanish moss onto the pumpkin. Then I glued the raven beside it and added a few pieces of brown wire. (Find ravens here and find brown wire here using my affiliate links.)
And, my FRIGHTFULLY delightful project is finished! I just LOVE how this turned out!
Let me know what you think.
