DIY Halloween Sign

You are here: Home / Autumn / DIY Halloween Sign

Hello Boo-tiful Souls,

I’m here to share a Halloween DIY project with you, made from one of those Dollar Tree word cut-outs. I bought this early in the season and am just now deciding what to do with it. I wanted this to be an easy project, so that if you are like me and procrastinate, you could easily be create this at the last minute. Follow along to see what I’ve created.

Items needed for the DIY Halloween sign

  • one Happy Halloween word cut-out sign from Dollar Tree
  • three Tiki Bar signs also from the Dollar Tree
  • paint sticks
  • black and white spray paint
  • six small wooden cubes from Dollar Tree
  • sticks, ribbon, leaves, spanish moss, any embellishment of your choice
  • glue gun, wirecutters

I got the Tiki Bar signs at the end of summer because I like the jagged edge of the signs and thought I could create something else out of them. So I used the back side and sprayed all three white. Then I sprayed the Happy Halloween sign with black paint. You could use almost any plain sign, as long as the Happy Halloween sign fits on it. I was just using what I had in my craft stash.

After the paint was dry, I glued paint sticks to the back of the three signs to join them together.

For the next step, I glued six of the little wooden cubes from Dollar Tree to the back of the Happy Halloween sign. Then I glued that to the white sign. It gave the sign a 3-D look.

I glued some black gnarly twigs to the sign. It looks a little weird in the pic, but you’ll see where I’m going with that in the next picture.

Leaves and spanish moss were added next. Then some strips of gray fabric. I also added one of the original twine hangers to the top of the sign.

I finished by glueing some mini pumpkins in the corners.

I hope I’ve given you some ideas for Halloween decor for your home.

Happy Crafting!

Pamela

Meet Pamela, the Creator

Pamela, Creator

Born and raised in rural, Missouri, I'm a wife of 30 years and mother to one adult son.

My interest in all things artsy-craftsy began as a young girl. If there was a craft kit for it, I've probably tried it: paint-by-number, latch-hooking rugs, candle-making, shrinky-dinks, string-art, etc. I loved them all! For many years I was able to express my creativity on-the-job as a florist, and love using silk florals in my home decorating projects.

I'm excited to share my crafting and home decorating ideas with you. I like finding that perfect thrift store item and crafting something new out of it, or giving that old piece of furniture a new life with a fresh coat of paint. I hope my projects will inspire you to get craftsy and create things to help decorate a home you love.

Happy Crafting!
