Hello Friends,
A while back, I posted a DIY craft project for a MacKenzie-Childs-inspired sunflower that I just loved. And today I have a similar DIY project, only this time I’m using a red rose. I think this DIY is perfect to use as decor for, but not limited to, Valentine’s Day. I really like the MacKenzie-Childs Courtly Check pattern, and as you will soon see, that’s the pattern I used for inspiration for this DIY. So follow along to see how I revamped this beautiful red rose and gave it a little bit of OOMPH!! And best of all, it’s so EASY!
Supplies needed for this DIY
- silk red rose
- wired, checked, black and white ribbon
- scissors
- glue gun
I found this large beautiful red rose at the local Walmart store. It’s beautiful just by itself, but I wanted it to be a little EXTRA!
Using black and white, wired, ribbon, cut several “petals” leaving the wired edge intact. You will need about seven or eight.
Working inward from the outside edge, begin glueing the petals to the red rose wherever they look best. I think a random pattern will look better than trying to make it look symmetrical.
When you get all of the petals glued in, you are finished! How simply beautiful is this? I think the black and white, together with the red looks, very striking.
You can do this with any color rose, so the possibilities are endless!
The MacKenzie-Childs version of this costs $15, so this version is bargain for less than $5.
I hope I’ve inspired you to get creative with silk flowers and add a little pizzazz to them!
