Hello Sweet Friends,
Don’t you just love FALL? The colorful leaves, cooler weather, pumpkins, hot apple cider, bonfires, hayrides; all the THINGS! I also LOVE fall crafting. And today I am sharing a mini fall tree DIY, perfect for this time of year. Some people will decorate their Christmas trees for FALL, then after Thanksgiving switch out the decor for Christmas. I don’t really have enough space in my home to do this, so I wanted a smaller version for fall and this is what I came up with, using mostly supplies from Dollar Tree. I hope you like it!
Supply list
- Dollar Tree mini Halloween tree
- Dollar Tree mini pumpkin
- various fall ribbons
- faux berries, optional
- embellishment for tree top
- scissors
- glue gun
Begin this project by removing the tree from the box, discarding (or setting aside) the base. Separate each layer of branches, while laying flat on the work surface.
Cut strips of fall ribbons for in between each layer of branches. It is better to cut the pieces of ribbon a little too long rather than short. The ribbons will be trimmed a little later in the process. Beginning at the bottom of the tree, tie each piece of ribbon to the tree “trunk”. Continue cutting ribbon strips and tying to the tree until you get to the top.
Shape the tree in a downswept motion by bending the branches and ribbons downward. Keep fluffing out the branches until it is in a pleasing tree shape.
Trim the ribbons to desired length, and dovetailing the wider ribbons into a V-shape.
Remove the stem from the foam pumpkin. Glue and insert the base of the tree into the top of the pumpkin.
Now the tree is nearly finished. Add an embellishment to the top of the tree with hot glue. If desired, glue faux berries into the tree.
And how CUTE is this mini fall tree? I’m SWOONING!
I hope you love this project as much as I do. And I hope I’ve inspired you to create one for your home this fall.
