Hello Friends,
I’ve got a super easy DIY craft for you today! You may have seen other crafters make variations of something similar, with larger, full-size, lunch bags or luminary bags. But in my tutorial we will be using some smaller bags, which creates a star that is a much more usable size. Also the bags I use are very sturdy, which make a longer-lasting star! So gather ‘round the crafting table and I’ll give you all the details.
Supplies needed for Paper Star
- 9 small paper bags
- embellishment
- scissors
- glue gun
I found the bags at the local Wal-mart store. They were in the same aisle as wedding and scrapbook supplies. There are only six inches tall and made of very sturdy paper, similar to cardstock.
Begin this project by counting out nine bags and cut each bag to a point. After you cut the first one, you can use it as a template/pattern for the remaining bags. You should be able to cut two to three bags at a time.
Using your glue gun, put a line of glue along the straight edge of the bag, then a line of glue down the middle. It will look similar to a large capital “T”.
Before the glue dries, take the next bag and stack it on the first and press together. Make sure both bags are facing the same direction.
Repeat these steps for all nine bags. Glue – stack – press. Glue – stack – press.
When you get to the final bag, apply the glue the same as before.
Next, open the bags like an accordion or fan, being careful not to burn your fingers.
And press together until the glue dries.
Add an embellishment and you’re finished!! I used a SPARKLY pin.
How cute is this STAR? I just love it! Even though I created this at Christmas time, I think I can be displayed all year long. What do you think?
I hope I’ve inspired you to create a paper star for your home.
Have an AWESOME day!
