Hello Friends,
The throw pillow DIY project I’m featuring today is super EASY and so BUDGET-FRIENDLY! Have you see the prices of pillows these days? Yikes! If you switch throw pillows out for each season, then it can get pretty expensive. This little DIY is the perfect solution for that. I’m using a Dollar Tree canvas tote. I think it’s a SUPER cute tote, but it makes an even CUTER pillow. Follow along and see how easy the pillow is to create.
Supply List
- Dollar Tree tote
- pillow stuffing or poly-fil
- scissors
- glue gun
- burlap trim embellishment, optional
I love the vintage truck on this tote and thought it would make a cute pillow. To begin this project, cut off the two handles as close to the seam as possible. Fold both sides of the top hem down into the tote. Press lightly with an iron to create a crease.
Glue together approximately half of the top of the pillow, leaving enough room to stuff the pillow.
Stuff the pillow to the desired fullness, making sure to get into all of the corners. I used about half of a cheap pillow I got from Dollar General.
Glue the remaining top section together. At this point, the pillow could be finished but I decided to add a little embellishment using some burlap trim from Dollar Tree.
Glue the trim to the top and bottom seams of the pillow.
The pillow is finished, lickety-split! And it turned out so CUTE! I just LOVE it and I hope you do too.
I hope I’ve inspired you to create a “tote” pillow for your home. It’s EASY, so give it a try! I’ve seen different totes at Dollar Tree throughout the year; so there are many to choose from.
