DIY Pumpkin Pie Garland

You are here: Home / Autumn / DIY Pumpkin Pie Garland

Hello Sweet Friends, or maybe I should say Hello Pumpkins!

Today I only have pies for you! This country pumpkin has the cutest DIY for you and it’s so easy to make; as easy as pumpkin pie. Alright, enough with the puns; my apologies!

Let’s get started on this project.

Items you will need for the Pumpkin Pie Garland

  • one 9 X 12 piece of orange felt
  • two 9X12 pieces of light brown felt
  • six small white pom-poms
  • twine
  • glue gun
  • scissors

I purchased the felt at Walmart but you can find it at any craft store. I found the pom-poms online, but they can usually be found in any craft store also.

Start this project with the orange/pumpkin colored felt and cut six equal size wedges from it. Each wedge is approximately 3 1/2″ X 4”.

Next, move onto the light brown colored felt.

Cut six wedges from the light brown felt. These pieces need to be slightly larger than the orange ones, approximately 4” X 5”. A few of the pieces were a little narrow at the top, but that part will be covered up, so it won’t be a problem.

Six 1” X 9” strips need to be cut from the other piece of light brown felt.

Now that everything is cut, the garland is ready to be assembled.

Glue one of the orange wedges onto one of the light brown wedges.

Cut a long piece of twine and glue one end onto the top of the pie wedge. The excess twine can be trimmed when you are finished with the project.

Then run a long line of hot glue along the top of the pie wedge along the twine. Then attach a light brown felt strip to it, pinching it together as you go. This should look like a pie crust when finished.

And then finally, top your pumpkin pie wedge with a white pom-pom using hot glue.

Oh my gosh, how CUTE is that? It nearly looks good enough to eat!

Keep repeating the steps for five more pumpkin pie wedges, spacing them about two inches apart on the twine. Trim any excess twine but leave enough to hang the garland with.

I just LOVE this project! I hope I’ve inspired you to create one for your home.

Well, it’s getting late here, and I better go before I turn into a pumpkin!

Good Pie, Everyone!
Happy Crafting!

Pamela

Meet Pamela, the Creator

Pamela, Creator

Born and raised in rural, Missouri, I'm a wife of 30 years and mother to one adult son.

My interest in all things artsy-craftsy began as a young girl. If there was a craft kit for it, I've probably tried it: paint-by-number, latch-hooking rugs, candle-making, shrinky-dinks, string-art, etc. I loved them all! For many years I was able to express my creativity on-the-job as a florist, and love using silk florals in my home decorating projects.

I'm excited to share my crafting and home decorating ideas with you. I like finding that perfect thrift store item and crafting something new out of it, or giving that old piece of furniture a new life with a fresh coat of paint. I hope my projects will inspire you to get craftsy and create things to help decorate a home you love.

Happy Crafting!
