Hello Sweet Friends,
I have a super easy DIY to share with you today. These snowy pinecones are perfect to add to winter decor for the difficult-to-decorate after-Christmas season. At the end of the tutorial I’ll also share a few ideas for how to decorate with them. So without delay, gather your supplies, and let’s get to crafting!
Supplies needed for DIY Snowy Pinecones
- pinecones, any size
- white paint and paint brush
- Mod Podge
- iridescent glitter
- faux snow
When using foraged pinecones, you will want to bake them at 250° for 30-45 minutes and let them cool overnight before using. This will take care of any bugs and helps dry any sap.
Begin this project by painting the tips of the pine cone scales with white paint. Any acrylic paint will work. Be sure to get both sides of the scales. Repeat with each pine cone.
Once the paint is dry, apply a coat of Mod Podge on top of the white paint. While the Mod Podge is still wet, sprinkle with faux snow and iridescent glitter. I worked on a small section at a time before moving on to the next. Repeat with each pine cone.
When the Mod Podge has dried, the snowy pinecones are ready to be used in your winter decor! They look beautiful! I am so happy with how they turned out.
One way to use them in your decor is to add a few to a tiered tray. Look how CUTE this looks!
Or what about adding a few when styling a winter dough bowl?
Even adding a few to a tray vignette makes it look so pretty and wintry.
I hope I’ve inspired you to create some snowy pinecones for your winter decor.
Stay warm and….
