Hello Sweet Friends,
Anytime I’m in a craft store or any store with a craft department, I’m always searching out new or unique pieces to craft with. I love creating with canvases, so when I found a ROUND canvas at Target, I just had to have it. I didn’t have any IDEA what I would do with it, but I knew I could come up with something FUN. I began seeing these LARGE wooden vintage man-in-the-moon signs on Pinterest and was inspired to create one for myself, ONLY on a much smaller scale. Many of the signs I had seen were two feet in diameter or larger; but my little round canvas was only ten inches in diameter. The finished moon sign is the PERFECT piece to add in to my fall/halloween decor.
So follow along and I’ll show you how I created it.
Supplies needed
- 10” round MONDO LLAMA canvas from Target
- white paint and paint brush
- man in the moon printable – found here.
- pencil
- fine point black marker
Begin this project by painting the round canvas with white paint. Add a little gray if desired. Let dry before going on to the next step.
Turn the printable on the back side and rub a pencil over the pattern to be transfered.
Place the pencil side down onto the canvas, centering the image as much as possible.
Trace around the image, pressing down in order to transfer the pencil lead (graphite) onto the canvas.
Using a fine point black pen, outline the pattern left by the pencil lead. It will be very faint, but you should be able to see it close up.
Fill in the image with the black marker. And BOOM! You’re finished!
How CUTE is this vintage man-in-the moon sign? I am just loving it! I’m over the MOON!
This project ended up being super easy. I hope I’ve inspired you to create one for your home.
I’m including a link to make a large sign like this over at ERYN WHALEN ONLINE here.
