DIY White Christmas Centerpiece

You are here: Home / Budget-Friendly / DIY White Christmas Centerpiece

Hello Friends,

Today I’m bringing you a DIY for a Christmas silk floral centerpiece with a candle. A tutorial for a floral arrangement might be more appropriate in video form, but I’m going to give it a try here. I love working with florals and I hope you find this helpful in creating something beautiful for your home. I’m including many photos and will try to give as much detail as possible. So follow along to learn how to make one of your own.

Supplies needed for centerpiece

  • small plate or other container
  • block of floral foam
  • cylinder glass vase and candle
  • tinsel garland
  • 4 white poinsettias clips
  • various silver and white berry and foliage stems
  • small silver ornament balls
  • scissors, wire cutters, glue gun
All are Dollar Tree purchases.

Begin the centerpiece by glueing the square block of foam onto the plate, making sure it is perfectly level. This will ensure that your candle will sit straight in the finished centerpiece. Then glue the glass cylinder vase to the foam. Be sure to center it as much as possible. And finally swirl a length of the tinsel around the foam, spot glueing it in a few locations. This will help camouflage the foam when the centerpiece is complete. See picture below.

This tutorial is for a white and silver centerpiece, but could be made in any color desired. I was able to get most all of my Christmas florals, berries, and foliages from the local Dollar Tree. Most florals come in bundles of 5-6 stems which will need to be separated. I was trying to keep this DIY as budget-friendly as possible.

Begin with the four poinsettias, removing the clip from the base of the stem. (Or trim the stem fairly short if you are using some other type of poinsettia.) Insert each poinsettia in different directions around the glass vase; two opposite poinsettias a little longer than the other two, creating an oblong shape. These particular poinsettias from Dollar Tree have wired petals which make them easier to shape, so if they need some shaping up when you are finished, it will be easy.

Flat silver cedar stems are added next. Cut the stems so they will extend out a few inches beyond the poinsettias around the perimeter of the arrangement. See picture below.

White eucalyptus is the next to be added. With wire cutters, cut the bundles into smaller stems before adding to the centerpiece. Place them into the centerpiece as evenly as possible around the poinsettias. The centerpiece should have a good shape at this point.

Continue with silver berries. Separate into individual stems and add to the centerpiece.

A few pieces of snow-flocked foliage are added next.

A few white twigs and small silver ornament balls are added; and finally, a candle.

I think this centerpiece has turned out beautifully! What do you think?

Like I said above, you could create a similar centerpiece using different colors to match your Christmas decor. There truly are so many different variations on this!

I hope I’ve given you the confidence and inspiration to create a centerpiece of your own.

Wishing you a Blessed Christmas Season!

Happy Crafting!

Pamela

Meet Pamela, the Creator

Pamela, Creator

Born and raised in rural, Missouri, I'm a wife of 30 years and mother to one adult son.

My interest in all things artsy-craftsy began as a young girl. If there was a craft kit for it, I've probably tried it: paint-by-number, latch-hooking rugs, candle-making, shrinky-dinks, string-art, etc. I loved them all! For many years I was able to express my creativity on-the-job as a florist, and love using silk florals in my home decorating projects.

I'm excited to share my crafting and home decorating ideas with you. I like finding that perfect thrift store item and crafting something new out of it, or giving that old piece of furniture a new life with a fresh coat of paint. I hope my projects will inspire you to get craftsy and create things to help decorate a home you love.

Happy Crafting!
