Hello Sweet Friends,
For today’s DIY project, I will be sharing a fun and creative Dollar Tree Christmas craft idea. The two main items used in this project are a DT charger plate and the image from the 2024 Dollar Tree calendar. I think this craft turned out pretty darn CUTE and I hope that you think so too.
In my humble opinion, you can’t go wrong with a budget-friendly craft from Dollar Tree items. Being creative and making stylish decor for your home doesn’t have to break the bank, especially when many of the supplies are only $1.25. I hope you enjoy this idea as much as I did in creating it.
Without further delay, let’s get started.
Supply List for Dollar Tree Christmas Craft
- DT charger with scalloped edges
- DT calendar – December image
- scissors
- Waverly chalk paint in the color plaster
- Waverly antique wax
- paint brush
- Mod Podge
- ribbon
- berry and foliage embellishments
- hot glue gun
Let’s get started
As you can see, the image for the month of December has a circular shape, and is the perfect size for a charger. So my first step for this project was the cut out the image.
For the next step, I painted the charger with Waverly chalk paint in the color plaster. I thought this color coordinated with the background color of the image. It took two good coats of paint with dry time in between, focusing on the outer perimeter of the charger.
Once the paint had dried, I turned my attention to the calendar image. To make sure that I could apply the page to the curved parts of the charger, I cut several slits around the edge of the image; as pictured below.
After applying a coat of Mod Podge to the center of the charger, I placed the image onto it. I smoothed out the center of the image, then focused on the edges.
Each place that I had cut a slit, I slightly overlapped and smoothed out along the curved edge of the charger. It’s a little hard to describe so I am including a close up picture below.
Let’s finish our Dollar Tree Christmas craft
Once the Mod Podge had dried, I thought it needed a little antique wax to give it a more vintage look. So I watered down the antique wax and brushed in around the perimeter of the charger, then wiped it off with a paper towel.
The only thing left to do was to add some embellishments. So I tied a simple bow, and then glued it to the top of the charger. Then I hot glued some faux red berries and greenery into the bow. WOWZA!
And I had myself a super CUTE piece of Christmas decor. Didn’t this piece turn out FANTASTIC?
To say I am pleased with how this turned out would be a huge understatement. I mean, come on…. How CUTE is that?
I hope that I have inspired you to give this idea a try. I know that finding the same image may be difficult, but you can use this idea with any image; from a gift bag, a printable, napkin, etc. I hope you will give it a try. It is such a budget-friendly idea and super CUTE too.
Until next time…….. Happy Crafting!
