Hello Sweet Friends,
We are getting close to Valentine’s Day, and I finally have finished the calendar page craft idea for the month of February. I have set myself a goal of creating a unique craft project out of each calendar image for that month. January’s and February’s ideas were posted fairly close together, but as the year goes on, I will try to have each month’s idea ready at the beginning of that month or a little before. I have to admit that I got this wall pocket idea from another crafter, Barb over at The Shabby Tree, and I put my own spin on it. I hope you like it as much as I do and are able to use the idea for a decor piece in your home.
The February image in Jennifer Pugh’s Seasons of Joy calendar is so CUTE. I knew it would make the perfect image for a Dollar Tree cookie sheet wall pocket. Follow along to see what steps it took to create this beautiful valentine project.
Supply list
- February image from Seasons of Joy calendar
- 3 Dollar Tree cookie sheets
- Mod Podge
- paint brush
- glue gun
- ribbon approx. 1 yard
- scissors
- faux florals and foliage
- trim/embellishment for wall pocket, optional
To create a wall pocket from the Dollar Tree cookie sheets is a fairly simple process. I had to cut the cookie sheets and the calendar image to the appropriate size. The calendar page is originally 12″ x 12″, but I trimmed it down to 10”h x 11”w. In order to get the cookies sheet to the same size, I first trimmed the edges of the cookie sheet and had to hot glue two pieces together. See picture below.
The cookie sheets come in a two-pack, and I used a total of three sheets to make the pocket. If I had made the pocket a little bit smaller, I could have gotten by with only using two of the cookie sheets, but I didn’t want to cut the image down any smaller.
Before assembling the wall pocket, I applied the image to one of the cookie sheet pieces, using a liberal coating of Mod Podge, taking special care around the edges. After it dried, I also added a top coat of Mod Podge.
After all of the Mod Podge had dried, I glued the pocket together using hot glue around three sides, leaving the top open.
Then I trimmed down any uneven edges that I saw.
I used a regular hole-punch to punch holes in each top corner of the wall pocket. Yes, a hole-punch will go through two layers of cookie sheet!
Next, I measured approximately one yard of ribbon to hang the pocket with. I ran each end of the ribbon through the holes and knotted the ends. You know how I LOVE neutrals, so I chose a natural colored ribbon which I thought worked out perfectly.
This next step is completely optional, but I thought I needed to add a little more embellishment to the wall pocket. So I glued some white trim (Walmart Christmas clearance) around three sides of the pocket.
Before adding any florals to the wall pocket, I carefully opened the top of the wall pocket. The cookie sheets are very flexible, so it was fairly easy to do this.
My final step was adding faux florals and foliages. The lamb’s ear and pale pink roses were both from Walmart. I just put them into the pocket without using any floral foam; adjusting them until I was pleased with the arrangement.
And I am so PLEASED with how this project turned out! How CUTE is this?
I decided to hang it on my large DIY chalkboard; the black background just seems to make everything POP! The florals, the muted colors, the hint of buffalo check; I just love everything about this piece. And I hope you do too!

There are so many ways to get creative with a project like this and I hope I’ve inspired you to give it a try!
Until next time….
Happy Crafting!
