Leaves, Pumpkins, Apple Cider, Hayrides, and More
The fall season is my favorite time of year. It means colorful leaves, pumpkins, hot apple cider, mums, hayrides, caramel apples, crisp mornings, and chilly nights. It also means decorating my home for the season.
If you love decorating your home for fall, why not add this beautiful DIY autumn wreath to your fall décor? You can easily craft this yourself with mostly items from the Dollar Tree.
Items you will need for your autumn wreath are as follows:
- Willow wreath
- 3 packages of burlap leaves X 5
- 2 bittersweet bushes
- 2 feather/grass bushes
- 2 mini pumpkins X 3
- Orange raffia bundle
- Other assorted fall stems, optional
I purchased all these items at my local Dollar Tree, except for the berries seen in the finished picture.
You will also need a glue gun and glue sticks, scissors, and wire cutters.
Gather up your supplies, plug in your glue gun, and let’s get started.
Remove all the packaging and tags from your floral items. We will start with the willow wreath and one package of the 5 dark brown burlap maple leaves. (The leaves come in different styles and colors. I chose light brown maple, dark brown maple, and orange oak leaves for my wreath.) The leaves are wired, so your will need to cut off the part of wire that sticks out from the base of the leaves. Attach the five leaves spaced out evenly by applying hot glue only to the base of the leaf, not the tip. Once attached, slightly bend the tips of the leaves away from the wreath. This will allow you to attach your other leaves and floral items from under the leaves.
Repeat the same steps with the other two packages of burlap leaves, placing one light brown leaf and one orange leaf in between each of the brown leaves.
For the next step, cut small stems of the bittersweet and hot-glue them in between each leaf. I used two bushes of bittersweet and it was enough to fill the whole wreath. This would actually be a good stopping point if you prefer a simple fall wreath.
But, of course, I couldn’t stop there. I chose to keep adding to the wreath. I added artificial feathers, corn shucks, orange raffia, and berries, also gluing them in between each of the leaves. I did my best to spread them out evenly on the wreath. Feel free to use whatever fall stems or accessories you have on hand.
For the final touch I added 5 mini white pumpkins, spacing them evenly apart on the wreath, attaching them with hot glue. And here is the finished autumn wreath!
I absolutely love the way it turned out. What do you think?
