Dollar Tree Mother’s Day Mug with Florals

You are here: Home / Budget-Friendly / Dollar Tree Mother’s Day Mug with Florals

Hello Sweet Friends,

Today’s craft is yet another Dollar Tree DIY. It is a Mother’s Day mug with florals. And, yes, the mug and the florals are all from Dollar Tree. Actually the floral foam is from Dollar Tree as well. I think the only thing in this DIY not from DT is a small piece of ribbon.

I wanted to share an EASY Mother’s Day DIY that you could easily recreate with budget-friendly items. And it would be a hand-made gift to give to your mother. What could be better?

So follow along for the simple instructions for this Mother’s Day mug with florals.

Let’s get started.

Supplies needed

  • DT Mother’s Day mug
  • floral foam
  • faux florals and foliages from DT, I used 4 bundles, and had some leftover
  • small piece of ribbon and wire
  • scissors
  • wire cutters

As I said above, I found the mug and all of the faux florals and faux foliages at Dollar Tree. I even got the floral foam from DT. Which leads us to the first step in this DIY; adding floral foam to the mug. The foam I purchased at Dollar Tree was already pre-cut into four pieces, so I added one of those pieces to the mug. I chose not to glue it in but just wedged it in there instead.

Next up, was to start adding florals. It’s usually a good idea to start with the tallest flowers. So I separated the stems of the first bundle of faux florals using wire cutters. The tallest stem was placed in the center with the four remaining flowers placed around it.

Here is a view from the top so you can see exactly how the flowers were placed in the mug.

The next bundle of flowers were cut individually too. Then placed in and around the tall purple flowers.

Here is another updated photo from above so you can see how I’ve placed the flowers.

The remaining two bundles were a small filler flower and a foliage bundle. So I repeated the process of cutting the stems apart and placing them into the mug with the other flowers.

And last but not least, I added about half of the faux foliage bundle after separating into individual stems. I might not have needed any extra foliage, but I thought it looked better with it.

Adding a small bow will finish the Mother’s Day mug with florals!

Meet Pamela, the Creator

Pamela, Creator

Born and raised in rural, Missouri, I'm a wife of 30 years and mother to one adult son.

My interest in all things artsy-craftsy began as a young girl. If there was a craft kit for it, I've probably tried it: paint-by-number, latch-hooking rugs, candle-making, shrinky-dinks, string-art, etc. I loved them all! For many years I was able to express my creativity on-the-job as a florist, and love using silk florals in my home decorating projects.

I'm excited to share my crafting and home decorating ideas with you. I like finding that perfect thrift store item and crafting something new out of it, or giving that old piece of furniture a new life with a fresh coat of paint. I hope my projects will inspire you to get craftsy and create things to help decorate a home you love.

Happy Crafting!
