Dollar Tree Pizza Pan Craft – Coastal Farmhouse

You are here: Home / Budget-Friendly / Dollar Tree Pizza Pan Craft – Coastal Farmhouse

Hello Friends,

I’ve been seeing crafters create some awesome things with Dollar Tree pizza pans and placemats; and I thought I would give it a try. The placemat I chose to use is this beautiful muted blue color that reminded me of the ocean. So I thought it would be UNIQUE to combine a beachy look with a farmhouse look. Well, as it turns out, “coastal farmhouse” is a THING! I had no idea. So I decided to do a series of coastal farmhouse DIY crafts, beginning with this one. So follow along to see what I created!

Supply list

  • placemat and pizza pan from Dollar Tree
  • three bundles of nautical rope
  • coordinating ribbon
  • faux floral and foliage
  • coastal accessories
  • scissors
  • E6000 or some other glue
  • glue gun
  • wire
  • zip ties

To begin this project, cut the placemat in a circle to fit the pizza pan. The edges will be covered by the nautical rope so if the circle isn’t exact, don’t be too worried. Glue to the pizza pan with E6000 or some other glue. Elmer’s glue would be fine too. Hot glue might melt the plastic placemat so I wouldn’t use that.

While the glue is drying, tie the three lengths of nautical together with a zip-tie. The zip tie will be covered in the final project so any color will do. Trim the end of the zip tie.

Braid the nautical rope into a fairly tight braid.

Continue braiding until it will fit around the perimeter of the pizza pan and tie off with another zip tie. Cut the ends of the nautical rope off close to the second zip tie.

Using the hot glue gun, attach the nautical rope braid around the edge of the pizza pan to create a “wreath”. Be sure the two ends with the zip ties are at the top.

Tie a bow with ribbon of neutral colors to coordinate with the nautical rope. Tie the ribbon together with wire or another zip tie. Glue to the top, covering the zip ties.

Glue in faux floral, foliage, and coastal accessories. (Starfish and eucalyptus are from Dollar Tree, seashells I had already, and ribbon from Michaels)

I just LOVE how this project turned out. I think that “Coastal Farmhouse” will be my FAVORITE decor style this summer! I hope I’ve inspired you to try to create something like this for your home.

What do you think of this decor style? Let me know.

Happy Crafting!

Pamela

Meet Pamela, the Creator

Pamela, Creator

Born and raised in rural, Missouri, I'm a wife of 30 years and mother to one adult son.

My interest in all things artsy-craftsy began as a young girl. If there was a craft kit for it, I've probably tried it: paint-by-number, latch-hooking rugs, candle-making, shrinky-dinks, string-art, etc. I loved them all! For many years I was able to express my creativity on-the-job as a florist, and love using silk florals in my home decorating projects.

I'm excited to share my crafting and home decorating ideas with you. I like finding that perfect thrift store item and crafting something new out of it, or giving that old piece of furniture a new life with a fresh coat of paint. I hope my projects will inspire you to get craftsy and create things to help decorate a home you love.

Happy Crafting!
