Dollar Tree Plush Bunny Makeover

You are here: Home / Budget-Friendly / Dollar Tree Plush Bunny Makeover

Hello Friends,

For today’s DIY craft idea, I am giving a Dollar Tree plush bunny a cute makeover. And, best of all, no sewing involved.

I’ve seen other crafters do amazing things with the DT bunnies; sew sweet little jackets or dresses, create hats, add florals, even add bunny slippers. There are so many ideas and so many creative people out there.

So, this is my version of the DT bunny makeover. I’m not really a seamstress, so I kept it simple, using only a glue gun to secure any embellishments. I hope you like it.

Supply list

  • Dollar Tree plush bunny
  • wide black and white ribbon
  • narrow black and white ribbon
  • small floral embellishment
  • one medium size floral
  • scissors
  • glue gun

After removing the tags from the bunny, I cut out ears and feet from the black and white ribbon.
For the feet, I just traced around them and cut. It was a little trickier to cut out the ribbon pieces for the ears. I still wanted a little pink to show, so I made sure to cut them smaller than the original ear.

I hot glued the ears on first, using the smallest amount of hot glue around the perimeter of the ears. And leaving an outline of pink around the black and white ribbon.

Next up, I hot glued a few small floral and foliage embellishments at the base of the ears.

The feet were covered next using hot glue to add the black and white ribbon pieces.

I then glued the two bunny hands together, and added a single flower tied with a narrow black and white bow. I secured the flower in place with additional hot glue.

And BAM, I had myself a super CUTE bunny! A perfect decor piece for my home this year!

I really LOVE how this bunny makeover turned out. I honestly couldn’t be happier! It kinda has a MacKenzie Childs vibe. Displaying it with other black and white decor pieces, looks so GOOD!

I hope I’ve inspired you to give this idea a try!

Until next time…

Happy Crafting!

Pamela

Meet Pamela, the Creator

Pamela, Creator

Born and raised in rural, Missouri, I'm a wife of 30 years and mother to one adult son.

My interest in all things artsy-craftsy began as a young girl. If there was a craft kit for it, I've probably tried it: paint-by-number, latch-hooking rugs, candle-making, shrinky-dinks, string-art, etc. I loved them all! For many years I was able to express my creativity on-the-job as a florist, and love using silk florals in my home decorating projects.

I'm excited to share my crafting and home decorating ideas with you. I like finding that perfect thrift store item and crafting something new out of it, or giving that old piece of furniture a new life with a fresh coat of paint. I hope my projects will inspire you to get craftsy and create things to help decorate a home you love.

Happy Crafting!
