Hello Sweet Friends,
I’ve got a quick and easy little upgrade project for you today. I found this little “gather” sign at the Dollar Tree the other day. I thought it was really cute just the way it was; perfect for a tiered tray, shelf sitter, or a gallery wall. It had a blue and white background, which really didn’t match my home decor. So, of course, I wanted to upgrade it just a little bit!
Follow along to see how I did just that!
Items needed for this upgrade
- “Gather” sign from Dollar Tree
- scrapbook paper for background
- wooden beads and waxed thread/twine
- a few pieces or ribbon/foliage/accessories
- scissors
- glue gun and E6000
- staple gun

The wavy blue background just wasn’t going to work for me, so I chose a neutral scrapbook page to replace it with.
I began this project by removing the back of the sign using pliers. It was stapled, so it was a little time-consuming and tedious to do this. But, you will see, in the end it was well worthwhile.

When I removed the back, the blue and white background was a separate paper, not attached to the back. I was able to use it as a template to trace on my scrapbook paper.

I used a dab of hot glue in the corners of the new background page to attach it to the back of the sign. Then I used a combo of hot glue and the E6000 to attach the front and back parts of the sign together.

I had some waxed thread (from the jewelry-making section of stores) to string wooden beads for a hanger. The waxed thread makes it really easy to string beads; I doubled the string for extra strength and knotted the ends. Then used a staple gun to attach to the back of the sign. I added a little ribbon and foliage to finish it off.

Wow! I just love this little transformation! Sort of a farmhouse vibe! It was so quick and easy. I’m trying to work on a gallery wall in my home and I think this will be the perfect addition. I hope I’ve given you some inspiration for your next upgrade project. Please let me know what you think.
