Dollar Tree Snowflake Craft Idea

You are here: Home / Budget-Friendly / Dollar Tree Snowflake Craft Idea

Hello sweet friends,
Today’s DIY project is a super CUTE and EASY one; a Dollar Tree snowflake craft idea. These wooden snowflakes caught my eye at the local Dollar Tree, and I knew I wanted to get creative with them.

This project, like so many others that I have featured, is easy and very budget-friendly, and is so cute, you’ll want to leave it on display all winter.

Follow along for the supply list and simple instructions.

Supply list

  • Dollar Tree wooden snowflake
  • wood biscuits
  • white paint and paint brush
  • E6000
  • glue gun, optional
  • faux snow, optional
  • Mod Podge, optional
  • embellishments; pearl or half wood beads

The first step for this project is to arrange the wood biscuits onto the snowflake until you like how it looks. I found the wood biscuits at my local Lowe’s, but they are available at many places as well as online. Here is my Amazon affiliate link for the wood biscuits.

There are two different styles of the snowflakes at Dollar Tree and I wanted to show you both of them. The one on the right was already painted white from a previous project. But I think if you’re starting from scratch, it’s easier to paint after the wood biscuits are glued on. The snowflake on the right also has a half wood bead as the center.

Once the wood biscuit are arranged to your liking, you will want to glue them with some E-6000 or some type of more permanent glue. You may use hot glue but it may not be as long-lasting.

After letting the glue dry overnight, get out your white paint and paint the entire snowflake white. I used Waverly chalk paint in the color plaster and it took a couple coats with dry time in between. If you think you will be displaying the finished piece by hanging it in a window, then you may want to cover the back side as well. But that is optional.

Embellishing the Dollar Tree Snowflake Craft

The final step was to embellish the snowflakes. i chose to add some pearls that were flat on one side (from Dollar Tree). And also added some faux snow using Mod Podge. And the final snowflakes turned out FANTASTIC! Wow, so pretty!

Meet Pamela, the Creator

Pamela, Creator

Born and raised in rural, Missouri, I'm a wife of 30 years and mother to one adult son.

My interest in all things artsy-craftsy began as a young girl. If there was a craft kit for it, I've probably tried it: paint-by-number, latch-hooking rugs, candle-making, shrinky-dinks, string-art, etc. I loved them all! For many years I was able to express my creativity on-the-job as a florist, and love using silk florals in my home decorating projects.

I'm excited to share my crafting and home decorating ideas with you. I like finding that perfect thrift store item and crafting something new out of it, or giving that old piece of furniture a new life with a fresh coat of paint. I hope my projects will inspire you to get craftsy and create things to help decorate a home you love.

Happy Crafting!
