Dollar Tree Valentine Heart Sign

You are here: Home / Valentine's Day / Dollar Tree Valentine Heart Sign

Hello Sweet Friends,

With Valentines Day fast approaching, I have another quick and easy DIY for you: a Dollar Tree Valentine Heart sign. And, of course, this project is in neutral colors rather than the traditional red and pink. So really, it could be used year-round if you desire.

Nearly all of the supplies used in this project were from Dollar Tree, with the exception of a few of the ribbons and the little arrow. One of the items I used for this project was a DT wall tile. I just LOVE the way they look for just about any project; they give any DIY a sort of vintage vibe.

I hope you like this Valentine DIY as much as I do. Follow along as I show you just how easy it is to create.

Supply list

  • DT wooden heart shape cut-out
  • DT wall tile
  • pen/pencil
  • scissors
  • Waverly chalk paint in the color plaster
  • paint brush
  • Waverly antique wax
  • various ribbons and other embellishments
  • DT burlap flower
  • scrabble tiles spelling out BE MINE
  • glue gun

This Valentine project was begun by tracing the heart shape onto the wall tile and then cutting it out. I find it easier to trace on the back side of the tile because it is flat; then I just peel off the back layer after it is cut out.

Then I hot glued the wall tile heart to the wood heart sign.

Now if you have been following me for very long, you already know that I my favorite paint is Waverly chalk paint in the color plaster. I use it for so many of my DIY projects. This one is no exception. So for the next step, I painted the wall tile heart with the plaster-color paint.

Two coats of paint were necessary for good coverage with dry time in between. Then, using Waverly antique wax, I added enough to make the heart look somewhat aged.

Then I made a messy bow out of ribbon and fabric pieces. The bow, a burlap flower, and other embellishments were glued onto the heart. Scrabble tiles spelling out “BE MINE” were also glued onto the heart. I found Scrabble tiles from Amazon; here’s my affiliate link if you are interested. https://amzn.to/3UDtfvp

Burlap ribbon from Dollar Tree glued around the edge of the heart was the finishing touch for this Valentine DIY.

The project turned out so stinkin’ CUTE! I just LOVE the neutral and vintage vibes!

I like this project so much, I can’t decide whether I should keep it or sell it in my craft booth. Hmm, pretty sure I’ll be keeping it!

Meet Pamela, the Creator

Pamela, Creator

Born and raised in rural, Missouri, I'm a wife of 30 years and mother to one adult son.

My interest in all things artsy-craftsy began as a young girl. If there was a craft kit for it, I've probably tried it: paint-by-number, latch-hooking rugs, candle-making, shrinky-dinks, string-art, etc. I loved them all! For many years I was able to express my creativity on-the-job as a florist, and love using silk florals in my home decorating projects.

I'm excited to share my crafting and home decorating ideas with you. I like finding that perfect thrift store item and crafting something new out of it, or giving that old piece of furniture a new life with a fresh coat of paint. I hope my projects will inspire you to get craftsy and create things to help decorate a home you love.

Happy Crafting!
