Hello Friends,
I hope you’re having a wonderful day!
Are you feeling inspired and craftsy today? Then follow along as I share a SUPER cute DIY project created from wooden cut-outs from Target. Many times I feature items from the Dollar Tree in my craft projects, so I thought I would change it up a bit this time. I hope you like it!
Supplies needed
- bunny and egg wood cut-out shapes from Target
- two sheets of coordinating scrapbook paper
- pencil and scissors
- Mod Podge
- paint and paintbrush
- sanding sponge or sandpaper
- embellishments, ribbon, floral, etc.
Choose two coordinating sheets of scrapbook paper. A 12 X 12 sheet is enough to cover both sides of the cut-out. Both sides of each cut-out will be covered with the scrapbook paper. So the finished project will be reversible. Yay!
Begin by tracing the bunny and egg shapes on the scrapbook paper. Cut out two of each shape.
Next, apply Mod Podge to one side of the bunny and one side of the egg. Attach the paper cut-outs to the corresponding wood shapes. Apply a top coat of Mod Podge and let dry. Repeat the process for the other side of the wood shapes.
Paint the sides of the bunny and egg with a coordinating paint color. (I didn’t get a picture of the painted sides until the finished project.)
(I wanted a POP of color to my very neutral project so I used a paint color called smooth sea glass. I also touched the edges of each shape with a little of the same paint.)
Use a sanding sponge or sandpaper to distress the edges a little.
Here’s a close-up of the distressing on the bunny.
The final step is to add your choice of embellishments to both sides of the bunny and the egg.
And I couldn’t be happier with how these turned out! So dang CUTE!
Pictured above is one side, and pictured below is the reverse.
I just LOVE the extra pop of color when viewed from the side.
Which side do you like best? Comment and let me know.
I hope I’ve inspired you with this Easter DIY craft. It was so FUN to create! See you next time.
