Hello Sweet Friends,
For today’s DIY project, I will be sharing an EASY calendar craft; a beautiful fall wreath using mostly Dollar Tree supplies. Have you ever had a wall calendar with images for each month that you just LOVE, and just hate to throw away? Then this craft idea is for you!
For the last few years, I have been buying Jennifer Pugh’s Seasons of Joy calendars; the images for each month are just beautiful. And I have been trying to come up with unique ideas to reuse/upcycle the pages. It has been a little difficult to come up with something new, but I think I have accomplished that with this project.
Follow along as I show you step-by-step how to create this beautiful wreath.
Supply list
- November page from the 2024 Seasons of Joy calendar
- 14 inch wire wreath from Dollar Tree
- DT round sign, approx. 12 inch
- two rolls of DT ribbon in neutral color
- wire
- sandpaper, optional
- Mod Podge
- small crafting iron
- various fall bushes from Dollar Tree
- one fall leaf bush from Michael’s
- ribbon for bow
- pen or pencil
- scissors
- wire cutters
- glue gun
- drill
Let’s get started
By looking at the above photos, you may have already guessed that I will be mounting the calendar image to the DT round sign and then attaching that to the wire wreath. So to begin with, I drilled two more holes around the outer edge of the sign (in addition to the one it already had).
I also used some sandpaper to knock some of the glitter off of the sign.
For the next step, I traced around the sign onto the calendar image and cut it out.
After applying a layer of Mod Podge to the sign and allowing it to dry, I ironed the calendar image to the sign with a small crafting iron. Forgot to get a picture of that, but here is what it looked like after.
Attaching the sign to the wreath form
Before attaching the sign to the wreath form, I wrapped the wire form with some Dollar Tree burlap ribbon. This will be a “base” to add the flowers to. See below:
It was time to attach the sign to the wreath. So I used the brown rustic wire that I love so much. (Here’s my affiliate link if you would like some for your crafting projects – https://amzn.to/3Ydosmn) Using the holes I drilled into the sign, I poked the wire through the sign and burlap ribbon, then secured in the back.
Adding flowers to the wreath
Now it was time to start glueing the artificial flowers and foliage to the wreath. I started with some fall leaf bushes from Dollar Tree, cutting into individual leaves with wire cutters.
Then I glued the leaves around the perimeter of the wreath, directly onto the burlap ribbon. As you can see, I chose muted colors to coordinate with the calendar image.
Next, I added stems of a fall leaf bundle from Michael’s. The colors also matched with the calendar image.
Once they were cut into individual stems, I hot glued them around the wreath.
I almost stopped at this point, because I thought it was looking very nice. But, of course, I had to add more. So next up was some DT eucalyptus. I cut it into individual stems and then glued them into the leaves that were already on the wreath.
A few mums from DT were next. I cut the blossoms very short and glued them onto the wreath.
Finishing the easy calendar craft
The final addition to the wreath was some large berries from DT. After cutting them into individual stems, I glued them into the wreath. I also added some small white pumpkins and white berries from the first DT leafy bushes that I first added to the wreath.
I almost forgot to mention that I added a bow at the top to hang the wreath by.
And I know I say this all the time, but I am so PLEASED with how this turned out. I just LOVE the muted colors of this wreath. It just came together PERFECTLY!
I just think this turned out so beautifully! It’s definitely not traditional fall colors, but maybe that’s why I like it so much.
I hope you find this easy calendar craft idea useful in your crafting endeavors. This idea could be used with any calendar image, printable, gift bag, etc. Simply add to a round sign and attach to a wire wreath. Add coordinating florals or foliages. And BAM, you’ve got yourself a beautiful wreath!
Until next time…….. Happy Crafting!
