Hello Sweet Friends,
The DIY project I am featuring today was so easy to make; I finished it, hung it on my wall, and nearly forgot to create a blogpost about it.
I found a framed print at a Goodwill Outlet store. (I didn’t care for the print but LOVED the frame.) If you’ve never been to a Goodwill Outlet store, I would suggest you go at least once. All the items that don’t sell at the regular Goodwill stores go there and are sold by the pound. LOTS of good bargains! I only spent about $20 and got a ton of stuff.
Anyway, back to today’s project…. I found a large gift bag at Walmart with a beautiful winter woodland scene on it and I knew it would look AWESOME in a frame. So THAT’S just what I did. Follow along for all the details.
Supply List
- Large gift bag
- Frame
- Glass cleaner and cloth (if needed)
- Waverly antique wax
- Pen/pencil and scissors

The frame from Goodwill had a nice mat in it and a print that was just sort of meh, in my opinion. I had to remove the paper backing first.

Then I removed the cardboard backing using a spackle knife to bend the staples, and removed the mat and print.

I gave the glass a good cleaning with windex and a clean cloth. It still had some price stickers that had to be removed too.

Using a paper towel, I dabbed the frame with some Waverly antique wax until I liked how it looked. The frame was already painted white; I liked the color so I just left it.

Using the cardboard back of the frame, I traced onto the bag and cut it to size. I also removed the ribbon handle of the bag, leaving two small holes.

To repair the holes, I simply cut a small piece of the bag with similar coloring and taped it onto the back side so that you can barely see where the holes are.

The gift bag image was now ready to be placed into the frame.

The glass, bag image, and cardboard backing went back into the frame; the staples bent into place and BOOM! I had myself a beautiful framed winter woodland scene.

How CUTE is this project? I just can’t tell you how pleased I am with this it. I think it’s perfect for winter decor. Perfect for that after-Christmas/January/winter period of time.

I hope I’ve inspired you to try a similar project. If you find that perfect frame at a second-hand shop or receive that perfect gift bag with a beautiful frame-worthy image, I hope you will give this project a try! It’s so fast and EASY!
Until next time……
