Easy Dollar Tree Christmas Craft

You are here: Home / Budget-Friendly / Easy Dollar Tree Christmas Craft

Hello Sweet Friends,

Today’s craft idea is a super EASY Dollar Tree Christmas craft. The supplies needed for this craft are basically three items, plus a few embellishments. And best of all, you can get most of the supplies from your local Dollar Tree!

When I say this is an EASY craft idea, I really mean it. For the most part, you will be layering items together and if you don’t count the time waiting for paint to dry, this project is a really quick one too.

Read on for the supply list and simple instructions.

Supplies needed

  • Dollar Tree oval silver tray
  • Dollar Tree wall tile
  • paper template for tracing
  • Santa Claus ornament, from Walmart
  • ribbon and small embellishments
  • scissors
  • white paint and antique wax
  • faux snow and Mod Podge
  • glue gun

Let’s get started

I began this project by tracing and cutting a template out of newspaper. This fit the inside of the oval tray and I used it to cut out a piece of the DT wall tile.

Then I traced the oval shape onto the back side of the wall tile and then cut it out. Looks like a perfect fit.

Next, I glued the wall tile into the tray. Then gave the whole thing a few coats of Waverly chalk paint in the color plaster. Once the paint was dry, I lightly brushed with some Waverly antique wax.

Once all that had dried, I brushed some Mod Podge around the edge of the tray and sprinkled with some faux iridescent snow. Then glued the Santa head ornament into the center,

Finishing up the Dollar Tree Christmas Craft

The final step was to add a few embellishments to the bottom. So I tied a simple bow and glued it onto the tray along with some faux holly and Christmas greenery.
And I have to say this turned out pretty darn CUTE! And it was so EASY to create!

I just love the vintage vibe that the finished piece has. Here are a few more display ideas.

I forgot to mention that I did glue a small wire loop to the back, to hang it on the wall.

Hoping this project inspires you to create something pretty for your home this holiday season.

Until next time……. Happy Crafting!

Meet Pamela, the Creator

Pamela, Creator

Born and raised in rural, Missouri, I'm a wife of 30 years and mother to one adult son.

My interest in all things artsy-craftsy began as a young girl. If there was a craft kit for it, I've probably tried it: paint-by-number, latch-hooking rugs, candle-making, shrinky-dinks, string-art, etc. I loved them all! For many years I was able to express my creativity on-the-job as a florist, and love using silk florals in my home decorating projects.

I'm excited to share my crafting and home decorating ideas with you. I like finding that perfect thrift store item and crafting something new out of it, or giving that old piece of furniture a new life with a fresh coat of paint. I hope my projects will inspire you to get craftsy and create things to help decorate a home you love.

Happy Crafting!
