Easy Dollar Tree Valentine Sign

You are here: Home / Signs / Easy Dollar Tree Valentine Sign

Hello Sweet Friends,
Today, I have another awesome DIY project for you: it’s a Dollar Tree Valentine sign. This DIY is so EASY and budget-friendly, that I know you’ll LOVE it! Did I mention it’s super CUTE too?

The truth is that I’ve had most of the supplies for this project in my craft stash for a while now. I guess I was waiting for the perfect idea to strike me. And with Valentines Day just around the corner, I thought it was high time to get creative with these supplies.

Without further ado, let’s get going on this easy Valentine craft.

Supplies needed

  • Dollar Tree plain round wood sign
  • Dollar Tree love heart wood cut-out
  • white paint
  • sheet of scrapbook paper/card stock
  • pen
  • scissors
  • glue gun
  • narrow lace ribbon
  • wide lace ribbon
  • pearls, optional
  • floral and foliage embellishment, optional

The first step for this project was to paint the heart-love cut-out with white paint. I started painting the white paint with a brush, but that ended up being too tedious. So I ended up using white spray paint; it was much quicker and easier.

While the paint was drying, I moved onto the round wood sign. Originally I was going to paint it red, but I had this beautiful sheet of red textured scrapbook paper that was the perfect size; I just had to cut it to fit the sign. So I traced the circle onto the paper and cut it out.

The red circle was then attached to the round sign with Mod Podge. While I was waiting for the Mod Podge to dry I moved on to the next step.

After centering and hot-gluing the heart onto the round sign, I glued some narrow lace ribbon around the edge. (I found this lace ribbon at Walmart).

Then I tied a lace bow out of wide lace ribbon, and glued it onto the sign. A few florals and greenery were also glued into the bow. And pearl embellishments were added to the sign. (Pearls were purchased from Dollar Tree).

And I am very pleased with how this turned out. Even though this conflicts with my tendency towards decorating with neutrals. The red looks very bold and refreshing in the midst of all of my neutral decor; perfect for Valentines Day decor.

Meet Pamela, the Creator

Pamela, Creator

Born and raised in rural, Missouri, I'm a wife of 30 years and mother to one adult son.

My interest in all things artsy-craftsy began as a young girl. If there was a craft kit for it, I've probably tried it: paint-by-number, latch-hooking rugs, candle-making, shrinky-dinks, string-art, etc. I loved them all! For many years I was able to express my creativity on-the-job as a florist, and love using silk florals in my home decorating projects.

I'm excited to share my crafting and home decorating ideas with you. I like finding that perfect thrift store item and crafting something new out of it, or giving that old piece of furniture a new life with a fresh coat of paint. I hope my projects will inspire you to get craftsy and create things to help decorate a home you love.

Happy Crafting!
