Easy Valentine Craft from Dollar Tree

You are here: Home / Budget-Friendly / Easy Valentine Craft from Dollar Tree

Hello Sweet Friends,
Happy February! I have the cutest and easiest Valentine craft idea for you today. This easy Valentine craft is made mostly from Dollar Tree supplies so not only is it cute and easy-to-make, it is also very budget-friendly. And, personally, I think this craft idea could be used nearly year-round. I mean, who doesn’t LOVE hearts?

Follow along for the supply list and instructions for this craft idea. Then run to the Dollar Tree for supplies. Let’s get to it.

Supply list

  • Dollar Tree 11.5” craft heart shape
  • Dollar Tree wall tile
  • Waverly chalk paint in the color Plaster (or other white acrylic paint)
  • Waverly antique wax (or other brown acrylic paint)
  • scissors
  • faux florals and foliage
  • coordinating ribbons
  • glue gun

To begin this project, I traced the heart-shaped sign onto the wall tile; and cut it out. Then, using a hot glue gun, I glued the wall tile onto the wood heart sign. I just left the twine hanger on the sign.

Once the sign was together, I painted it with the off-white paint. It took a couple coats with dry time in between. Then dry brushed the sign with some of the antique wax. After I was finished, I thought the sign had a nice aged, vintage vibe to it.

Then I decided that the sign needed to look a little more finished around the edge, so I glued some lace ribbon around the edge with my hot glue gun.

Finishing up this easy Valentine craft

All that was left to do at this point was to add some embellishment. So I gathered up a faux pink rose, some faux foliage, and some coordinating ribbons.

I tied a ribbon with long streamers and secured it in the middle with some wire. The rose was already in my craft stash and most of the ribbons were from Walmart.

Once the bow was tied, I glued it into the center of the heart. A few floral embellishments were added and BAM, I had myself a super cute piece of Valentine decor.

Meet Pamela, the Creator

Pamela, Creator

Born and raised in rural, Missouri, I'm a wife of 30 years and mother to one adult son.

My interest in all things artsy-craftsy began as a young girl. If there was a craft kit for it, I've probably tried it: paint-by-number, latch-hooking rugs, candle-making, shrinky-dinks, string-art, etc. I loved them all! For many years I was able to express my creativity on-the-job as a florist, and love using silk florals in my home decorating projects.

I'm excited to share my crafting and home decorating ideas with you. I like finding that perfect thrift store item and crafting something new out of it, or giving that old piece of furniture a new life with a fresh coat of paint. I hope my projects will inspire you to get craftsy and create things to help decorate a home you love.

Happy Crafting!
