With Valentine’s Day only a few days away, it’s still enough time for an easy craft to help decorate for the holiday. This little framed craft will look cute on a shelf, in a tiered tray, on a kitchen counter, or as part of a vignette. Follow along for all the details.
Items you will need for Valentine framed craft
- 4 X 6 picture frame
- 8 craft sticks
- various heart shapes
- red and white ribbons
- off white chalk paint
- antique wax
- scissors, glue gun, paint brush
I chose this frame because the pattern on it reminded me of vintage tin ceiling tiles. It’s a little hard to see in this picture, but some white paint and antique wax will make it pop. Remove the glass and back of the frame before painting. (Keep the back for later)
The craft sticks need to be cut down to fit the frame and stained on one side with the antique wax.
Then glue the craft sticks into the frame and replace the back.
For this framed Valentine craft I used three hearts. One red burlap heart, one small wooden heart, and one metal heart. The burlap heart came in a set of twelve, the wooden heart came in a set of more than two dozen, both from Hobby Lobby. I used a heart paper punch to cut the metal heart from a Dollar Tree cookie sheet. (Watch for a blog post using the remaining hearts in a garland).
I glued the hearts onto the frame in a sort of asymmetrical pattern instead of just stacking them on top of each other.
Almost finished. Just need to add the ribbon. I just used several lengths of different red and white ribbons and tied it in the middle; then glued a small heart charm in the middle.
I think this craft turned out super cute, and it was so quick and easy. I hope I’ve inspired you to make one for your home.
Happy Crafting!!
