Easy Valentine DIY using a February Calendar Image

You are here: Home / Budget-Friendly / Easy Valentine DIY using a February Calendar Image

Hello Sweet Friends,

Today I am sharing a super EASY Valentine DIY project using the February calendar image from Jennifer Pugh’s 2024 Seasons of Joy calendar. I hesitate to call it a CRAFT because it is just that EASY!

If you have been following me for any length of time, you already know that I love DIYs using calendar images, especially Jennifer Pugh’s. Some of her calendars are even available at Dollar Tree, although the image I’m using for this project is from a calendar that I purchased online.

Follow along for some quick step-by-step instructions for this CUTE Valentine DIY. I hope you like it as much as I do.

Supplies needed

  • February calendar image
  • 12 x 12 frame
  • pink paint (or mix red and white paint)
  • paint brush
  • scissors
  • short length of twine
  • fabric, ribbon, pearls, other embellishments
  • hot glue gun

The frame I used for this project was already in my craft stash. It was missing the glass and backing, but it was the perfect size for the project. So I made do with it. If you need a 12 x 12 frame, here is a good deal for one from Amazon. (affiliate link)

Painting the frame was the first step for this project. I didn’t have any pink paint, so I mixed my own using white and red. It took two coats of paint to cover the frame with dry time in between.

Look how nice the pink frame will LOOK with the February image.

The next step was to get the calendar page ready. So I carefully cut it from the rest of the calendar. In order to cover the small hole at the top of the page, I glued some ribbon along the top and bottom edges of the picture.

Then I placed the image into the frame and used a 12 x 12 piece of cardboard for the backing. I already LOVE the way it looks!

Even though there was already a hanger on the frame, I added a twine hanger using hot glue. Then tied pieces of coordinating fabric strips onto the twine. A ribbon and pearl embellishment was then added to the watering can on the image.

The finished piece turned out so CUTE! I just LOVE it! And it was SUPER easy to put together.

Easy Valentine DIY

When decorating for Valentines day, I tend to like the more muted colors, even neutral colors, over the traditional red. So this piece is PERFECT! And I think it can be displayed into spring without any problem.

Until next time….. Happy Crafting!

Meet Pamela, the Creator

Pamela, Creator

Born and raised in rural, Missouri, I'm a wife of 30 years and mother to one adult son.

My interest in all things artsy-craftsy began as a young girl. If there was a craft kit for it, I've probably tried it: paint-by-number, latch-hooking rugs, candle-making, shrinky-dinks, string-art, etc. I loved them all! For many years I was able to express my creativity on-the-job as a florist, and love using silk florals in my home decorating projects.

I'm excited to share my crafting and home decorating ideas with you. I like finding that perfect thrift store item and crafting something new out of it, or giving that old piece of furniture a new life with a fresh coat of paint. I hope my projects will inspire you to get craftsy and create things to help decorate a home you love.

Happy Crafting!
