Hello Friends,
I recently purchased some fall window CLINGS from the local Dollar Tree. And I wanted to see how many decor items I could create from one sheet. I love the colorful fall images, so I knew they would be the perfect item to get “craftsy” with. So I got creative and came up with six separate pieces, with a few of them being pretty simple ideas. Clings are definitely NOT just for windows anymore. Follow along and see my creations!
Supply list
- one sheet of Dollar Tree fall window clings
- Dollar Tree pumpkin-shaped sign
- set of Dollar Tree wall shelves
- white paint
- Mod Podge
- paint brush
- variety of fall ribbons and twine, embellishment
- package of faux leather words (Thankful and Blessed) from Dollar Tree
- tacks, buttons, or other embellishment
- glass bottle, glass jar, and glass candleholder
For the first project, start with the pumpkin. Paint with two coats of white paint, letting dry between coats. I used Waverly chalk paint but any acrylic paint will work.
When you decide on the clings you want to use, then apply a light coat of Mod Podge to the back of the window cling (or you could paint a light coat covering the whole pumpkin instead) Place the cling onto the pumpkin. Then apply another coat of Mod Podge on top.
While the final coat of Mod Podge is drying, create a bow for the pumpkin stem. Use any coordinating ribbons of your choice. Stack the ribbon strips in a criss-cross pattern and tie in the middle with a piece of twine.
Glue the bow to the pumpkin stem along with any other embellishments.
How CUTE is the first decor piece?
On to the next idea. Actually, the next two ideas will be next! We’ll be making two separate signs from a Dollar Tree set of shelves.
Remove the shelves from the packaging and set aside the cord and rings. Paint both wooden pieces with two coats of white paint, allowing to dry in between coats. Don’t forget the sides, too.
Paint each wood sign with a light coat of Mod Podge. Apply the window cling, then top with another coat of Mod Podge. Apply a light coat of Mod Podge to the back of the word and place onto the sign. There are 4 holes in the sign but they are covered up by the window cling and word, so I feel like this is finished.
For the next shelf sign, use the same steps. A light coat of Mod Podge, then place the decal. A light coat of Mod Podge on the word, then apply to the sign. The faux leather word is slightly flexible, so I was able to curve the word on the sign. Glue tacks, buttons, or other embellishment to cover the four holes.
Didn’t these two signs turn out CUTE? Perfect for a tiered tray or a shelf sitter. Or add a hanger to hang on the wall or a hook.
On the final three projects, the clings were just placed on a glass bottle, glass candleholder, and a glass jar. No Mod Podge needed. Such a simple little thing to jazz up any plain container.
I hope I’ve given you some inspiration to get creative with those window clings. So many fun ideas! The possibilities are endless.
