Hello Friends,
Today’s DIY project features a little cardboard sign I found at the local Dollar General. The sign is cute on its own, but not very sturdy. And, of course, I just like to JAZZ things up a little. So this was a good project for that. And it is so QUICK and EASY! So without further delay, let’s get right to the details.
Supply list
- Dollar General sign – fresh flower market
- 6 large paint stir sticks
- 4 flat metal thumbtacks (or upholstery tacks)
- mini table saw
- glue gun and E6000
Remove the ribbon hanger on the sign and set aside or discard.
Using a table saw, cut the large paint sticks to about 12 3/4 inches. This is a couple inches wider than the original sign. I love the variations in color of the paint sticks, so I decided to use them as-is rather than painting or staining them.
Keep the short ends of the paint sticks to use as braces for the sign. See picture below.
Align the six paint stir sticks to create a sign and glue the short pieces to the back to hold together. Use hot glue for immediate hold and E6000 for a more long-term secure hold.
Flip the sign over, center and glue the cardboard sign onto the paint stick sign.
To cover the holes left by the ribbon hanger, use flat metal thumbtacks or upholstery tacks.
And….. DONE!
How CUTE is this little sign? So easy to just POP into a display with flowers. I think this sign could be used year-round by just changing out the flower displays.
I hope I’ve inspired you to create something similar for your home decor! It’s SO EASY!
