From Fall Clearance Sign to Snowflake Decor

You are here: Home / Budget-Friendly / From Fall Clearance Sign to Snowflake Decor

Hello Sweet Friends,

Today I have a super CUTE DIY snowflake decor piece to share with you. It was created with a clearance fall sign I found at good old Wally World (Wal-mart). Our local Walmart has a new-ish area near one of the entry doors similar to the Target dollar spot. When the fall items were 70% off, I grabbed a few items, including this Thanksgiving sign.

I wanted to make a simple winter decor piece, and thought this little sign would be perfect to make over and add to my winter decor. Follow along and see just how EASY this little shelf sitter sign is to make.

Supply List

  • small square wooden sign
  • wooden snowflake ornament
  • gray and white paint
  • paint brish
  • glue gun

The fall sign is very sturdy and could be used as a shelf sitter or on a tiered tray, or hung on the wall. I’ve had the small wooden snowflake ornaments for a few years; I believe they were also from Walmart.

I began this project by painting the wooden sign with gray paint. I used Waverly chalk paint in steel, but any acrylic paint will do. Really, any color would work for this easy little project. Paint two to three coats and let dry in between each coat. The four sides also got two coats of paint.

Next up was painting the snowflake white. I used Waverly chalk paint in plaster but any acrylic white paint will do. I gave it two coats and made sure to paint the sides too. I tried my best to fill in the little hole with white paint and think it is camouflaged pretty well.

Attaching the snowflake to the sign with hot glue will complete the project!

Oops! I caught a glimpse of my pajama sleeve in the photo. Yes, it’s TRUE, I craft in my pajamas! LOL.

Anyway, I am super happy with how this sign turned out. So simple and so EASY to make.

How stinkin’ CUTE is this sign! I just LOVE it!

I hope I’ve inspired you with this simple and easy little craft project. Is this something you would decorate with in your home?

Until next time….

Happy Crafting!

Meet Pamela, the Creator

Pamela, Creator

Born and raised in rural, Missouri, I'm a wife of 30 years and mother to one adult son.

My interest in all things artsy-craftsy began as a young girl. If there was a craft kit for it, I've probably tried it: paint-by-number, latch-hooking rugs, candle-making, shrinky-dinks, string-art, etc. I loved them all! For many years I was able to express my creativity on-the-job as a florist, and love using silk florals in my home decorating projects.

I'm excited to share my crafting and home decorating ideas with you. I like finding that perfect thrift store item and crafting something new out of it, or giving that old piece of furniture a new life with a fresh coat of paint. I hope my projects will inspire you to get craftsy and create things to help decorate a home you love.

Happy Crafting!
