Hello Friends,
The DIY decor project idea I have for you today is a Farmhouse Chalkboard and has been in my mind for a few months now. In fact, I originally was going to make it with a Christmas vibe. But Christmas came and went and I worked on other projects instead.
This project was so EASY to make; I basically layered three items from the Dollar Tree (plus a few embellishments) to make this chalkboard and it turned out super CUTE! Follow along for the quick, easy steps to create your own. Enjoy!
Supplies needed
- DT certificate frame (9.5 x 12 total size)
- DT sheet peel and stick wallpaper
- DT mini chalkboard
- embellishment
- pen
- scissors
- glue gun
- chalk pen
The first step for this project was to remove the back of the frame; I kept the paper insert to use for a template.
Using the paper insert from the frame, I traced onto the sheet of peel and stick wall paper, and cut along the line.
The piece of wallpaper was then placed into the frame and the back was replaced. There was no need to peel off the backing. At this point, I had a framed piece of wall paper.
I removed the twine hanger from the mini chalkboard frame. Then centered it and attached it to the front of the frame with hot glue.
All that was left to do was add an embellishment. I chose a neutral bow and some faux foliage and white berries. Hot glue was used to attach all embellishments.
The sign was now finished and it turned out super CUTE! But I thought it needed a message on it. So, chalk pen to the rescue! I don’t know if you have used chalk pens before, but they are AWESOME. They are so much easier to use than regular chalk. A chalk pen creates more defined lines and is easily removed with a damp cloth or paper towel. So, if you make a mistake, just wipe it off and start over! As you can see, I decided to use the word WELCOME for my new farmhouse chalkboard sign.
I just can’t tell you how PLEASED with how this quick little project turned out! So stinkin’ CUTE!!
I hope I’ve inspired you and given you a usable idea for your own home decor or craft project!
Until next time…….
