Hey Boo,

For today’s DIY, I will be showing you how to create some Halloween skull flowers using supplies from Dollar Tree. It’s a fun little decor idea for Halloween and I hope you like it as much as I do.

This craft is super EASY and uses a minimal of supplies. So hurry to your local Dollar Tree and grab them; you’ll have these flowers put together in no time flat. So without further delay, let’s get started.

Supply List

  • orange sunflower bush from Dollar Tree
  • package of DT skulls
  • X-acto craft knife
  • glue gun
  • wire cutters
  • And if you want to make a potted skull flower, add the following items
  • package of DT bony hands
  • small flower pots
  • small piece of floral foam
  • small amount of Spanish moss

To start this project, I separated all of the sunflowers using wire cutters.
Then, I cut the back of the skulls off with an X-acto craft knife. It was a little bit difficult, but I wanted to be careful so as not to cut myself. I disposed of the back part of the skull.

Using my glue gun, I attached the skull to the center of the flower. Easy-peasy!

Repeat this step seven times and you’ve got yourself a cute little flower bouquet! Ok, well, some of you may not call it cute, but, I think it makes a good little halloween bouquet.

Potted Skull Flowers

Of course, I could have stopped here and just put the skull flowers in a vase, but I had to get a little more creative with them. So I added some of them to small flower pots.

Two bony hand were glued onto the sides of a small pot. Then a small piece of floral foam was glued into the pot, along with some Spanish moss.

After cutting the flower stem down to size I placed it into the little pot. And look how simply spooky this turned out! It kinda gives off Seymour vibes from Little Shop of Horrors.

Before I knew it, I had created three little skull flower pots.

Meet Pamela, the Creator

Pamela, Creator

Born and raised in rural, Missouri, I'm a wife of 30 years and mother to one adult son.

My interest in all things artsy-craftsy began as a young girl. If there was a craft kit for it, I've probably tried it: paint-by-number, latch-hooking rugs, candle-making, shrinky-dinks, string-art, etc. I loved them all! For many years I was able to express my creativity on-the-job as a florist, and love using silk florals in my home decorating projects.

I'm excited to share my crafting and home decorating ideas with you. I like finding that perfect thrift store item and crafting something new out of it, or giving that old piece of furniture a new life with a fresh coat of paint. I hope my projects will inspire you to get craftsy and create things to help decorate a home you love.

Happy Crafting!
