Mini Pumpkin Topiary DIY

You are here: Home / Autumn / Mini Pumpkin Topiary DIY

Hello Sweet Friends,

Today I’m going to show you how to make the cutest little pumpkin topiary, from mostly Dollar Tree supplies. It’s so easy to make, you’ll want to make more than one. Follow along to see how! Soon you’ll be running out to the nearest Dollar Tree for supplies!

Items you will need for this craft

  • mini pumpkins from the Dollar Tree
  • mini clay pots (comes in a three-pack from the Dollar Tree)
  • small styrofoam ball or small block of foam
  • bittersweet and/or other small florals
  • small wired greenery garland (from Walmart)
  • raffia
  • glue gun

I started by placing a styrofoam ball into one of the mini clay pots. I didn’t even use glue; just wedged it into the pot. Then I pressed an area on top of the styrofoam to create a level surface to glue the first pumpkin.

For the two bottom pumpkins of the topiary I used two pumpkin clips; they are packaged three to a pack from Dollar tree. I removed the stems and clips from the first two pumpkins before gluing them into the pot; one on top of the other.

I could have stacked all three together, but I like for the top pumpkin to be a little smaller than the others. So I used a mini pumpkin pick, also from the Dollar Tree in a five-pack. I removed the pick from the pumpkin before gluing on top of the others.

Next, I wrapped a piece of the small green garland around the base (twice) and in between each pumpkin, gluing in place as I went. I tried to be extra careful and not burn my fingertips. I mostly succeeded.

Then I glued pieces of bittersweet and mini wheat stems, finishing with small raffia bows at the top and base of the pumpkin topiary.

How cute is this little guy? This was so quick and easy; it took no more than 15 minutes to make. I hope I’ve inspired you to make one too.

This topiary is perfect for a shelf sitter, in a tiered tray, on a window sill, just about any kind of fall display. How would you display one? Comment and let me know.

Happy Fall and Happy Crafting!

Pamela

Meet Pamela, the Creator

Pamela, Creator

Born and raised in rural, Missouri, I'm a wife of 30 years and mother to one adult son.

My interest in all things artsy-craftsy began as a young girl. If there was a craft kit for it, I've probably tried it: paint-by-number, latch-hooking rugs, candle-making, shrinky-dinks, string-art, etc. I loved them all! For many years I was able to express my creativity on-the-job as a florist, and love using silk florals in my home decorating projects.

I'm excited to share my crafting and home decorating ideas with you. I like finding that perfect thrift store item and crafting something new out of it, or giving that old piece of furniture a new life with a fresh coat of paint. I hope my projects will inspire you to get craftsy and create things to help decorate a home you love.

Happy Crafting!
