Run, run, Rudolph, to the craft store. I’ve got a super-easy ornament craft for you to help decorate your Christmas tree for the upcoming holidays. With only a few items and a little bit of time, you too can make this cute Rudolph ornament.
Here are the items you will need for this craft:
- 4X4 mini canvas
- red pom-pom
- short piece of twine
- short piece of ribbon and small jingle bell
- brown paint or stain and paint brush
- fine-point Sharpie
- glue gun
- scissors
With any reverse-canvas project, the first step is to remove the canvas from the frame. The canvas was glued on the frame rather than stapled, so I used an X-acto blade to help pry it off. Then I trimmed the canvas just inside of the crease left on the canvas, leaving a small square of canvas that was eventually glued to the back side of the frame. The next step is to paint the frame with brown paint. After mine was dry I sanded it a little for a more distressed look. With the fine-point Sharpie, I then drew the antlers and eyes of Rudolph on the canvas; using the side with primer not the unfinished canvas. I then glued the red pom-pom “nose” on the canvas. The eyes, antlers, and nose should be mostly centered in the canvas, leaving a half-inch of clearance around the perimeter of the canvas to which the frame will be attached. Next, using my glue gun, I attached the canvas and the twine hanger to the back of the frame. The last step was adding the embellishments; I chose a small bow and jingle bell. This was such an easy little craft project and I think it turned out super cute. I hope I’ve inspired you to make one for your Christmas tree.
Happy Crafting!
