Hello Sweet Friends,
I don’t know about you, but I am so READY for spring! And the perfect Rx for my spring fever is CRAFTING! So today I’m sharing an easy craft that can be displayed in your home from spring through summer. This mossy birdhouse is created from a Dollar Tree birdhouse kit and just a few other supplies; so it’s very budget-friendly too! So without any delay, let’s get started.
Supplies for mossy birdhouse DIY
- Dollar Tree birdhouse kit (or small wooden birdhouse)
- moss sheet from Dollar Tree
- white and brown paint
- paint brush
- scissors
- glue gun
First up, follow the directions on the package to assemble the birdhouse.
After the birdhouse is assembled, it should look something like this.
Or if you’d rather, a pre-assembled birdhouse may be used.
Give the birdhouse two coats of white paint. Let dry in between coats. (I used chalk paint for mine.)
Once the paint is dry, dry brush brown paint in a random areas on all sides of the birdhouse. (I used antique wax on mine.)
Be sure to get the brown paint on all sides. Don’t forget the back!
Cut small pieces of the moss sheet in odd varying shapes and hot glue them onto the birdhouse in a random pattern.
Be sure to add moss to all sides of the birdhouse, even the back.
I’m loving this little craft project. I think this it turned out so CUTE! I displayed mine in a St. Patrick’s tiered tray and it will easily transition to spring afterwards.
I hope I’ve inspired you to create a mossy birdhouse as part of your home decor. You really can’t go wrong with an easy and budget-friendly craft project like this!
Happy Spring and
Happy Crafting!
