Hello Sweet Friends,
I’m continuing with my coastal farmhouse decor ideas with this blogpost. Being from a land-locked state, I’m really enjoying creating craft/DIY projects in this decor style. Of course, there are lakes and rivers nearby, but nothing compares to being near the ocean. I have kept sand, seashells, and wonderful memories of beach vacations from years past.
But enough about that, and on to the craft project, an ombre coastal farmhouse mirror. I hope you like it!
Supply list
- “sunburst” mirror from Dollar Tree
- flat wood beads
- short piece of white twine
- short piece of nautical rope
- Waverly plaster chalk paint
- Mondo Llama smooth sea glass paint
- Waverly agave chalk paint
- paint brush
- glue gun
- scissors

When I found this mirror at the local Dollar Tree, I loved the sunburst design, but did not love the burnished gold color. I just knew I could do something fabulous with it!

The first step was to give it a good base coat of white chalk paint. It took three coats for good coverage.

Then the edges were painted with the sea glass paint, trying to blend the white and sea glass paint to create an ombre effect. It took a couple of coats of the sea glass to get the effect I wanted.

Then the agave paint went just on the “tips” of the sunburst.

I thought the agave paint was a little dark so I used a little sea glass on top of it and thought it looked much better. But it needed a little something EXTRA.
So I painted some flat wood beads with the white chalk paint and glued them around the perimeter of the mirror. I also glued a length of white twine around the edge of the mirror. (I forgot to get a picture of this step).
Using a short piece of nautical rope I created a loop to hang the mirror, and glued it to the back side.

After having changed my mind several times while creating the mirror, I have to say I really LOVE the way it turned out! The ombre color effect has a very beachy VIBE and the wood beads add a nice farmhouse touch.

I hope to continue to inspire you to try the coastal farmhouse look in your creative endeavors.
Happy Crafting!
Pamela
