Hello Sweet Friends,
Do any of you save those little Oui yogurt jars for craft/DIY projects? Well, I’ve been saving for a while now and have accumulated quite a few of them. They are the perfect size to use for a tea light or votive; or a small flower vase; or a small planter for a succulent.
I tried to come up with a unique DIY idea to “makeover” the jars to share with you. I hope you LIKE it!
Supply list
- Oui yogurt jars, cleaned and with labels removed
- floral stickers from Dollar Tree
- Elmers quick dry glue, optional
- Waverly chalk paint – plaster
- Waverly wax – antique
- paint brush
- rustic wire, twine, cord, or raffia
Begin this project by removing the labels on the Oui yogurt jars. Make sure the glass is as clean as possible. Then place a floral sticker onto each jar.
The floral stickers only have adhesive in the center of the flower; so put some quick-drying glue around the edges of the flower on the back side. Wrap some cording to hold the slightly flower in place until dry. This will help the flower sticker curve around the glass jar.
While waiting for the glue to dry, turn each jar over and paint the bottom of the jar. Two coats should be plenty.
When the glue and paint are dry, turn the jars over and remove the cord that is holding the flower sticker in place. Paint the rest of the jar with two coats of Waverly plaster paint, letting dry between coats.
Lightly brush the Waverly antique wax onto each jar.
Add a simple bow for embellishment using wire, twine, or raffia. I used rustic wire from Amazon. But I think twine, raffia, or a narrow ribbon would also look great! Here’s my Amazon affiliate link for the rustic wire if you’re interested. https://amzn.to/3TNC2bb
Don’t these look SUPER cute!! I am so thrilled with how they turned out. There are so many different uses for them; candleholder, vase, or planter. I think they could be used in the bathroom for makeup brushes, Q-tips, or cotton balls. The sky is the LIMIT!
How would you use them in your home?
I hope I’ve inspired you to create something similar for your home. The same idea could be applied to any glass jar. Get creative with it; and start repurposing those jars instead of throwing them out.
