Hello Sweet Friends,
For today’s project, I am doing a makeover on an existing patriotic wreath I have. I created this wreath about three years ago and I hang it on my back door during the summertime. It was exposed to the elements (sun, wind, rain) and looking very tired and faded. Some of the flowers were loose or missing, the ribbons were crumpled. Definitely time for a MAKEOVER!
The patriotic welcome star was still in good shape so I kept it and the grapevine wreath, but the faded flowers and ribbons had to go.
Supply list
- reused items: grapevine wreath and metal welcome star
- new items: florals and ribbons in red, white, and blue
- wire
- wire cutters
- scissors
- glue gun
The red, white, and blue mixed bush of faux flowers is from Walmart. Also used are a few extra stems of white faux flowers.
Using a pair of wire cutters, separate the faux flowers into individual stems.
Without using glue, arrange the florals on the wreath in a pleasing pattern. Some stems may need additional trimming if they are too long.
Before glueing anything to the wreath, tie a bow for the wreath.
(Some of the ribbon I used is grosgrain ribbon. It is a very sturdy ribbon, but also a little difficult to tie a bow with. So I tied three separate bows and then wired them together).
The final bow may be a little bit floppy but the florals around it would will help prop it up a little.
Using the wire, attach the bow to the wreath. And begin glueing the faux flowers.
Keep glueing faux flowers onto the wreath. Use the largest flowers first.
Then glue the smaller flowers.
Just a few flowers left to add.
(At this point I added a few more small white flowers and added the star welcome sign, attaching it with wire)
Oh my STARS! It looks so much better! The perfect summer, patriotic wreath for my back patio.
