Personalized Dollar Tree Frame

You are here: Home / Budget-Friendly / Personalized Dollar Tree Frame

Hello Sweet Friends,

We’ve had our rescue dog, Tuck, for about six months now. I wasn’t sure I how much I needed a dog in my life until we got him. He’s just SO lovable!!!!
I thought maybe a cat or a small lap dog would be fun, but as soon as I saw Tuck, I knew he would be perfect for our home, even though he’s much larger than a lap dog.

With Tuck in mind, I’ve been wanting to create a pet-themed craft. So I came up with an idea for a personalized picture frame. Even if you don’t have any fur babies in your life, this craft idea could easily be used for a person instead. So follow along and see how I created this cute little pet-themed frame.

Supplies needed

  • Dollar Tree wooden picture frame
  • white and brown paint and paint brush
  • various ribbons
  • button or other embellishment
  • small piece of wire or twine
  • rub-on transfer letters
  • scissors

Begin this project by removing the back and image from the frame. Paint the frame with white paint with two coats letting dry between coats. Then dry brush with brown paint to give it a distressed look.

Personalize the frame with rub-on transfer letters. The letters were found at Dollar Tree as well. Cut out the letters desired individually. Remove the backing, then place on the surface of the frame and rub on the transfer very thoroughly. Remove the top clear cellophane sheet, leaving the letter on the frame. Repeat will all letters. (Any smudges can be touched up with the white paint)

Create a messy bow by stacking pieces of ribbon on top of each other. Secure in the middle with twine or wire. Shape up the bow and trim or dovetail the ends of the ribbons.

Almost finished:
Add your favorite photo! Glue the bow to the top of the picture frame and embellish with a button.

How stinking’ CUTE is this frame?! I just LOVE it! I couldn’t be more pleased.

I think this idea is perfect for a pet photo frame, but the idea could be used for anyone. Just personalize with a name! It was a very quick and easy project; waiting for paint to dry took the most time.
I hope I’ve inspired you to try this photo frame idea for a special person or pet in your life.

Happy Crafting!
Pamela

Meet Pamela, the Creator

Pamela, Creator

Born and raised in rural, Missouri, I'm a wife of 30 years and mother to one adult son.

My interest in all things artsy-craftsy began as a young girl. If there was a craft kit for it, I've probably tried it: paint-by-number, latch-hooking rugs, candle-making, shrinky-dinks, string-art, etc. I loved them all! For many years I was able to express my creativity on-the-job as a florist, and love using silk florals in my home decorating projects.

I'm excited to share my crafting and home decorating ideas with you. I like finding that perfect thrift store item and crafting something new out of it, or giving that old piece of furniture a new life with a fresh coat of paint. I hope my projects will inspire you to get craftsy and create things to help decorate a home you love.

Happy Crafting!
