Hello Sweet Friends,
The craftsy project I’m featuring today was inspired by the classic children’s book The Tale of Peter Rabbit written by Beatrix Potter. Much like the mischievous title character, this floral arrangement includes a garden arrangement with a bunny burrowing into it. Follow along and I’ll show you how I created this whimsical piece from mostly Dollar Tree supplies.
Supply List
- galvanized metal garden container
- floral foam
- spanish moss
- faux grass, greenery, and florals
- bunny butt
- mini faux Easter eggs
- mini faux carrots
- small chalkboard tag and dowel rod
- chalk pen
- scissors
- wire and wire cutters
- glue gun
The first step was to glue floral foam into the container. (Container and foam both from Dollar Tree)
Then the foam was covered with moss.
The grass bundles were added next. I trimmed the stems a little and “curled” the ends of some of the blades of grass by loosely running scissors along the grass blade.
Added next was faux lavender. I used two bundles, and fluffed them out after inserting the stems into the arrangement. I don’t know if Mr. McGregor had lavender in his garden, but I like the color so I went ahead and added it.
Added next was some foliage from Dollar Tree. I’m not sure what it is supposed to be, but it looks garden-y to me!
Faux lamb’s ear was added next. I got it from Walmart, I think it was the only item that did not come from Dollar Tree in this project. I cut apart the stems with wire cutters before adding to the container.
The cute little bunny butt was added next.
In order to add the carrots and mini eggs, I put each of them on a piece of wire using a small dab of glue.
Then inserted the wired carrots and eggs into the foam where I though looked best.
The final embellishment was a small chalkboard tag made into a sign by glueing it onto a small dowel rod. I wrote “Mr McGregor’s Garden – No Rabbits” on it with a chalk pen.
I was really pleased with how this turned out! So stinkin’ CUTE!
I can almost hear Mr. McGregor yelling, “Stop, thief!”
I hope you’ve enjoyed this DIY as much as I did making it. And I hope I’ve given you the inspiration and confidence to create something similar for your home.
