Hello Friends,
Who doesn’t love Halloween? There are cute costumes, candy, pumpkin-carving, and, of course, my favorite, Halloween decor! So, I have the CUTEST Halloween craft project for you today. We will be creating candles out of Dollar Tree pool noodles. I’ve seen others crafters using this unique idea and thought I would give it a try. It’s a little time-consuming but not difficult and definitely worth the effort. All of the supplies for this project came from the Dollar Tree so it’s definitely budget-friendly too. And they have lots of Halloween accessories to choose from.
Supply list
- one pool noodle
- charger or large plate
- battery tea light candles
- variety of halloween accessories, picks, florals, etc
- black spray paint
- small piece of floral foam
- painter’s tape
- scissors
- Xacto blade
- glue gun
- glitter, optional
Using a knife or scissors, cut the pool noodle into 6 or 7 different lengths. In my project, the tallest candle is 12” and each one after that I cut 1-2” shorter until I had a total of 7 candles.
Next, trace around the tea light on the top of each pool noodle section. Using an Xacto blade, cut out enough space so the tea light will fit into the pool noodle. Then use a glue gun to create “wax drips” on the candles. Have plenty of glue sticks handy because it take quite a few to do 7 candles.
Arrange the “candles” onto the charger/plate as desired and glue them down. If you have other accessories to add, allow space for them. Add a piece of foam if necessary. Use the painter’s tape to tape the light of the tea lights.
Give everyone a couple coats of black spray paint, letting dry in between Once the paint is dry, everything is ready to be assembled.
Remove the tape from the tea lights and insert them into the candles. Glue any halloween accessories onto the plate or foam. (I glued the skull onto the foam to lift it up a little. Then added some festive halloween stems into the foam. I also added a few loops of halloween netting into the arrangement.) Any items can be added or the candle centerpiece can be very simple. It is totally up to YOU!
I didn’t get any picture of arranging the halloween accessories. Oops! But take a look at the final project!!
How delightfully SPOOKY is this project? Such a fun craft to work on. I think I’m going to try this idea out on a Christmas project. So many different uses for these pool noodle candles. The sky is the limit!
I sure had a lot of fun creating this. I need to thank my son’s girlfriend for giving me the idea. We each created our own centerpiece and had so much fun chatting and creating.
I hope I’ve inspired you to get creative with those Dollar Tree pool noodles and create some candles for your home.
