Hello Sweet Friends,
For today’s DIY, I have a quick and EASY Valentine craft. Actually, it’s not strictly just a Valentine craft; I feel like this decor piece could be used year-round. I’ll let you decide that for yourself.
A few months ago, I purchased a small oval frame from a thrift store for 50 cents. You read that RIGHT! It was half-price day and the $1.00 frame cost me 50 whole cents. I seem to be drawn to oval frames for some reason, so anytime I see one for such a reasonable price, I grab it.
So I finally decided what to do with this bargain purchase; turn it into a piece of super CUTE Valentine decor.
Gather around my craft table, and I’ll show you just how EASY is was to create.

Supplies needed
- 4 X 6 oval frame
- scrapbook paper
- package of Dollar Tree pearls
- ribbon, fabric strips, etc. for embellishment
- white paint
- pen
- scissors
- heart template, optional
- glue gun

The first step for this project was to get rid of those red sequin flowers. I just kept tugging on them until they came off of the frame. Them I removed the glass and backing from the frame.
The frame already looked better.

Next, I painted the frame with some Waverly chalk paint in the color plaster. It took two coats with dry time in between.

While I waited for the paint to dry, I moved on to the next step. Using the frame insert, I traced an oval shape onto my “burlap” scrapbook paper, and then cut it out.

Then I put the burlap oval into the frame without using the glass. I’ll save it for another project.
The frame is already looking MUCH better!

Now I was ready to create a heart shape out the the Dollar Tree pearls. So I cut a heart shape template out of paper making it a little smaller than I wanted the finished heart to be. And simply centered in in the frame and hot glued the pearls around the outside edge. After all of the pearls were in place, I removed the template.

For the final step, I glued a small messy bow with some pearls in the center, for an embellishment.
And I have to say that I am THRILLED with this little project!

And here are a few more photos of how I displayed the pearl heart frame, with some of my winter decor. I think it makes the perfect transition piece from winter to Valentine decor and even into spring. And it even has a little bit of a farmhouse vibe!

I hope you liked this quick little DIY project and are inspired to create something similar for your home.
Until next time…..Happy Crafting!
Pamela
