Hello Sweet Friends,
With the holidays fast approaching, I am sharing a super EASY and budget-friendly DIY project; a poinsettia ornament. Most of the supplies I am using for this DIY were purchased from Dollar Tree. If you have been following my page for long, you know I LOVE my Dollar Tree crafts.
I just LOVE how the poinsettia ornament turned out and I hope you do too. Follow my few easy steps, and you will be able to create this beautiful ornament in no time. You’ll find a supply list and instructions below:
Supply List
- 2 faux poinsettia bushes from Dollar Tree
- small styrofoam ball, also from DT
- short piece of ribbon and a straight pin, optional
- glue gun

The styrofoam balls that I used came in a four-pack and were not quite 2 inches in diameter.
Each of the poinsettia bushes had 6 blossoms; for this project I only used a total of 9 flowers, so there were a few left over for the next project! And I used the velvet poinsettias rather than the plain ones, but any type/color will work.
Begin by removing all of the flowers from the stems.

Assembling the Poinsettia Ornament
Next, apply a liberal amount of glue to the base of the poinsettia blossom. Then, place the blossom into the styrofoam.

One by one, keep repeating this step until the entire foam is covered with poinsettias.

After the styrofoam is covered, you may notice a little white peeking out. Gluing the poinsettia blooms to each other helps to minimize this.

Let’s Finish Up
If you wish to add a ribbon to hang the ornament with, now is the time. Using a strip of ribbon and a straight pin, dab a little glue, then push into the foam.

And…. that’s a wrap! How CUTE is this poinsettia ornament?

If you like crafting with Dollar Tree velvet poinsettias, you may also like my poinsettia wreath post.
I hope you like this project as much as I do. Besides hanging them on your Christmas tree, poinsettia ornaments could also be displayed in a bowl, or hung on a door knob, or added anywhere in your home where you need a little splash of color for the holiday season.

Until next time…… Happy Crafting!
Pamela
